Is the game dead?
I recently picked up this game, and I am just wondering whether the development is now closed? Thanks!

There will probably be occasional updates to fix bugs or add some additional features, but no further DLCs are planned.

I guess a game is dead (which is a ugly word) when you can't or don't want to play it.
The FoG2 series is still a great game with tons of armies and DLCs, running on the current Windows OS, playable SP or on multiplayer server, with ongoing official/user-made tournaments available.
The best (and only) of its kind
Have fun!

Thanks for the answers. I guess I will play what we have now.
Don't get me wrong, it's a lot of fun, but I am playing Matthias Corvinus campaign and the first few battles I just absorb the first attack with my wagenburg supported infrantry line and then smash into the enemy with my hevy cavalry from one side. Historically accurate, but it is getting a little boring.
Does higher AI levels acrually improve the opponents tactics or only their troop number/quality?

Higher AI simply increases size of enemy force. I think at the highest level it also increases the morale grades a little as well. To truly experience the game, you really need to play MP.

I'd call it complete rather than dead. (Though I really would have liked to see East and Southeast Asia included as well.) There are still multiplayer tournaments that get staged periodically if that's your thing, but as far as new offerings I think we're just hoping the studio is working on a next game that will get revealed in the future.

It would have been nice, would have felt more complete.VideogameghisKhan wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2026 2:16 am I'd call it complete rather than dead. (Though I really would have liked to see East and Southeast Asia included as well.)

You may have seen it already, but don't forget the Silk Road Medieval Mod 3.0, downloadable from the "Community Scenarios" in-game.VideogameghisKhan wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2026 2:16 am I'd call it complete rather than dead. By default it will match East Asian armies against historical opponents, but if you want to do (for example) Japan 1467-1500 AD vs. Swiss 1491-1500 AD, have at it.
However, some of the unit models are transfers from European lists, so don't be perturbed if you see some suspiciously non-Asian-looking soldiers in your East Asian armies

Oh yes, I've played it and I'm glad it exists. But between the lack of specialized graphics, some army list choices I think are a bit off, and the lack of Southeast Asia I'm still left wishing there were a professional version made.Ray552 wrote: Sun Nov 01, 2026 4:19 pm You may have seen it already, but don't forget the Silk Road Medieval Mod 3.0, downloadable from the "Community Scenarios" in-game.

Over the past few years I've played Crusader Kings 2 and 3, FOG2 and Medieval, and Old World, and the one thing they all had in common was that they cover a broad swath of the premodern world but notably exclude East Asia. Crusader Kings 3 finally added the region last year, and I'd be glad to see the others follow suit.
