Forged in Battle Team Challenge - 3rd & 4th October 2026

The first weekend in October will see Sarisbury Green host the 8th Forged in Battle Team Challenge. We have capacity for a maximum of 10 teams of 3 players. Priority will be given to those who have attended previously but new players are also welcome.

The event will run with an even number of teams to avoid byes.

Feedback was pretty positive on last year's themes so these are unchanged.

We are close to Southampton Airport for those coming from further afield and may be able to arrange lifts to and from the airport.

As before this will be a 3-player Team event, 1 player in each pool. Please email Pete Dalby at peterdalby1960@gmail.com if you wish to attend by the 31st August.

Rules to be used are V3.2. Figure Scale 15mm Specific Period/Theme options & restrictions are as follows:

Pool 1 Sticks and Stones Plus – 850AP Table Size 60” x 40”

Any list, any date but the following troop types are not permitted – any Heavy Armour, Pikes or Lances. A list may include up to 1 Armoured BG & up to 2 BGs of Elephants. No more than 8 bases of Skilled Swordsmen may be fielded. Up to 1 BG of Impact Foot may be fielded. All other Impact Foot must be fielded instead as Light Spear, Swordsmen with the points adjusted accordingly. Any mounted troops who would otherwise dismount as Impact Foot will also count as Light Spear, Swordsmen. Any list which cannot meet these requirements may not be used.

Terrain adjustment – each player must choose 1 compulsory piece and 1 to 3 additional pieces.

Pool 2 Horsey Horsey – 900AP Table Size 72” x 48”

Any list, any date but armies must field at least 450 AP of Chariots, Cavalry or Camelry Bow or XB. NB – LH & LCm are not Cavalry. Cataphracts are not cavalry either. Please note that Bow* no longer count towards the 450 AP total for Bow or XB.

Pool 3 Medieval – 950 AP Table Size 72” x 48”

Any list, post 1040 AD. No more than 24 bases of Pike may be fielded.

Army Lists must come from the latest Books. Where your army of choice no longer appears in the new books we will accept old lists on a case by case basis.

We will offer 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. All games to be 3 hours.

Team Entry is £81 per team or £27 per individual.

Yes - with the new rules & army lists now published, we will be using Version 3.3.

I spoke with Owain yesterday and he confirmed that he is happy to check the lists for us.

I've received a query regarding the Later Mycenaean & Trojan List. This permits Chariots to dismount as armoured foot.

For the purposes of the Sticks n Stones period, only 1 BG of armoured foot may be fielded. So if the Myrmidons are picked as armoured, any dismounted chariots will count as protected - not armoured.

If the Myrmidons are fielded as protected, the first chariot BG that dismounts can be fielded as armoured. The second & subsequent chariot BGs that dismounts will count as protected.

Hope that clarifies my intent for this period. 1 armoured BG only. So if there are any other similar wrinkles that I've missed this should provide clarity.
