A huge swirling cavalry battle with a few lonely spearmen on the Portuguese side.

The greater numbers of the Serbians was essential for them to win the right flanks battle but The greater impact of the Iberian knights was decisive and the lower morale of the Serbians caused a chain collapse in the center once some more knights arrived to finish them off. The lonely spearmen were shattered in the center but rallied right at the end to give the Portuguese the victory.

Division C

Ironclad Arab (Conquest) 638-1040 AD defeated ulysisgrunt Dailami 821-1003 AD with Khorasanian allies, 64-35

On a flat plain, both armies approached with the Arabs relying on their superior heavy spearmen to carry the day. Although outnumbered in cavalry, they moved swiftly forward on the left flank to take advantage of their slight superiority in mounted there before the arrival of significant enemy cavalry reinforcements detached from the other flank. In this action they were assisted by some units of infantry, the spear units especially helping to counter the arriving enemy mounted.

On the other flank the Arab cavalry was countered by the extended enemy infantry line supported by cavalry and the Dailami elephant unit. Meanwhile the central infantry battle was joined with Dailami superior mediums backed by other dailami foot facing the attacking Arab spearmen, whose massed archers sought shelter behing them.

In the fiercely fought infantry action the Arab spearmen gradually established dominance although on their right centre a superior Dailami unit engaged two massed archers to their disadvantage. The success of the Dailami cavalry on their left flank was matched by more marginal advantage for the Arabs on their own left thanks to the significant infantry support.

The screenshot below shows the situation before the last turn with the the Arabs well positioned to take full advantage of their combat success to extend their lead at the end. Thanks to ulysisgrunt for a good and challenging match.

Rafydedel Arab (city) 300-633 defeats Grahamed Dacian 89-106 with Sarmatian allies 51-11

Good shooting rolls and large number of forces allowed the arab to defeat stronger but less manoeuverable warbands on a hilly terrain. A final lucky cavalry charge allowed me to get a score way above expectation.

Division B

Ironclad Gallic 300-101 BC with Samnite allies defeated Swuul Egyptian 664-571 BC with Assyrian allies, 56-29

This was a hard fought battle, on an extended front across the more open areas of the field. The Gallic army was relying on its infantry which formed the centre and right whilst its cavalry and light chariots on the left had a more difficult task opposing an enemy mounted flank included three heavy chariots.

The infantry fight in particular proved long and exhausting; the Gauls being helped by some isolated breakthroughs but this was offset temporarily by the warbands leavinng the line in pursuit. Meanwhile the mounted battle saw eventual success for the Egyptians but this followed a prolonged struggle which included some infantry support. Consequently the victorious units were not able to influence the outcome of the critical infantry struggle elsewhere.

In terms of losses it was fairly equal for most of the contest and it was only at the end that the balance changed significantly when the Gallic infantry helped by returning units was able to launch a final devastating attack. Thanks to Swuul for a good and enjoyable game.

Not sure if my opponent omitted to post it but my Ottoman/Serbians lost to random27 Muslim Indian by a score of 31 to 63.

With the result I have just posted above all my games are now complete in the period.

The *Schwerpunkt* of the battle was the high ground facing my right flank. The Philistine commander thought the elevation advantage would be enough to halt my attack. Instead, I had concentrated my best troops there; after taking the high ground, they executed a 90-degree turn and eliminated the enemy units one by one. My center and left flank played their part—holding the line while the right flank completed its objective. Thanks for the game, Bagatrix; you really managed to put me under pressure, especially in the center.
