Captainwaltersavage Portuguese 1200-1319 with Berber
defeats
Hari72 Mongol Europe 1223-1241
61:26
A deep stream divided the forces with low hills soon populated by opposing armies. The Mongols dismounted a significant number of their mounted troops and proceeded to shoot the poor Portuguese to death. Some Mongol light cav started flanking the army as well. It did not look good but the more numerous light cav of the Portuguese managed to drive off the better quality Mongol lights and the General retreat was sounded by the Portuguese to get out of missile range. The Mongols took their chance and forded the deep stream and forced the disrupted and weaker opposing infantry backwards. As ever the Portuguese Knights managed to save the day with a reposition and combined with the effects of their own side shooting managed to hold the Mongol attack. The left flank was a cagey affair with both sides cavalry trying to fight in the middle of a deep stream. Eventually the Mongol centre started to die and the chain collapse and good luck of the pursuing knights meant the end for the Horselords.

Division A
Captainwaltersavage Portuguese 1200-1319 with Berber
Defeats - but only just!
mcfcivo Aragonese 1275 – 1319
66:58
I thought I had posted this result but obviously missed it out.
Evenly matched armies but with a slightly different emphasis. The Portuguese won the cavalry battle but lost the infantry conflict. The Portuguese had an excellent start on their left flank with the knights and supports crushing their opponents. but struggled to capitalise on it. The Aragonese steadily caught back up with a determined assault on the right, crushing all units opposing them. Superbly close game and either side could have won.

Defeats
Cherebuschka Serbian (1040-1319) and Hungarian (1050-1154)
51:26
A huge swirling cavalry battle with a few lonely spearmen on the Portuguese side.
The greater numbers of the Serbians was essential for them to win the right flanks battle but The greater impact of the Iberian knights was decisive and the lower morale of the Serbians caused a chain collapse in the center once some more knights arrived to finish them off. The lonely spearmen were shattered in the center but rallied right at the end to give the Portuguese the victory.
