What did these guys look like? I assume they would look like western Kn but did have individual coats of arms or should they be in simular clothing with uniform equipment?

I painted mine in somewhat uniform colors (i.e., same colors/symbols on each stand but differing from stand to stand), using heraldry from the Franks that operated in Palestine.

Appearance might also depend on how long these troops had been in Byzantine service and whether as kit was damaged, it was then replaced from state armeries. Equally longer service troops would happily pick up bits of Byzantine kit they felt to be superior eg klibanion lameller corselets. No one - to my knowledge - make 15mm knights in mixed Frankish/Byzantine equipment; a market gap perhaps for Khurusani

15mm knights in mixed Frankish/Byzantine equipment - now that is a dam good good idea.
