Interesting. I hope we get to play the communists though :)

I think that the Korean War is about the maximum date that the PzC design works for, because from the moment you get guided missiles it messes up too much with its fundamental rock-paper-scissors conception of combined arms. All this with respect to all the modders who work on modern conflicts.

I'd argue with you on this one and disagree! It depends on how everything is implemented. For example, I really love playing the Modern Conflicts mod and other additional mods based on it!

What’s more, missile weapons are actually featured in the original game in the form of the Fau ;)
https://panzercorps.fandom.com/wiki/V2_Rocket

 In theory, I even know how to make a nuclear weapon work ) Take a hex and the script to destroy the platinum (there’s a map like this in the single-player scenario), fire V-2 rockets at it (instead of a Soviet sabotage unit), and voilà – loads of hexes vanish, simulating a nuclear explosion and shockwave

https://forummg.info/viewtopicgallery.php?t=462
– Torpedo boats sank a heavy cruiser
In July 1950 four torpedo boats from the 2nd Torpedo Squadron of the KNA Navy, in the waters of the East Sea off Chumunjin, spotted an enemy flotilla manoeuvring, comprising the heavy cruiser ‘Baltimore’ with a displacement of 17,300 tonnes, a light cruiser with a displacement of 14,000 tonnes, a destroyer with a displacement of 3,500 tonnes, and others. The flotilla was armed with around 200 guns of various calibres and had a crew of over 3,500. The ratio of forces between the enemy flotilla and the KNA torpedo squadron was 440:1 in terms of size and armament, and 105:1 in terms of numbers. Despite such enormous numerical and technical disparities, the Korean torpedo boat crews launched a sudden and fierce assault against the enemy ships. The enemy’s heavy and light cruisers and other warships attempted to sink the torpedo boats with a barrage of gunfire. Under a hail of bullets, the Korean sailors rammed the enemy vessels and launched three torpedoes, which struck the enemy’s heavy cruiser with precision. A series of explosions rang out, and the *Baltimore* sank to the bottom of the sea. The enemy’s light cruiser was also put out of action by the torpedo attack. Having lost their flagship, the light cruiser and the destroyer turned to flight.
The sinking of a heavy cruiser with a displacement of 17,300 tonnes by a torpedo boat with a displacement of 17 tonnes is a miracle of miracles, the likes of which has never before been seen in the history of naval battles worldwide.

The attached equipment file gives an idea of what to expect. The file is still in beta stage and is subject to change; also classes 0 and 4 have not been introduced in this draft yet.

Production of the Vespa 150 TAP was from 1956 to 1959, so too late to participate in the Korean War.

 We can leave the motorised scooter with the recoilless rifle for later, since you’ve already made it. Or we could make it an additional bonus unit for the Foreign Legion – after all, in reality, the Maus and the IS-3 didn’t see action in the Second World War, yet they’re still in the vanilla game.

That’s where units of 15 troops will come in handy – they’ll be able to show us the hordes of Chinese volunteers charging at the UN forces.

If you are to creep forward to the early 50s and peripheral conflicts, another obvious candidate is Indochina 1945-1954. Playing as the Viet Minh of course :) (though the French could also be a good campaign in its way).

I really think though that after 1955 the Panzer General conception is out of place. The same holds for anything pre-1930s; no panzers, no combined arms worth the mention. In terms of historical interest I am above all a WW1 freak, but there's no way that this is playable in an enjoyable way in the PzG engine (I played the Kaiserslacht mod, of course, but it didn't quite do it for me). And I'd love a good Vietnam war strategy game, at least in the way it should be done (politics and logistics being central), but I've been looking for 35 years with little success.

The Panzer General sweet spot is really 1935-1950: combined arms, from their infancy up to an including early jets and unguided missiles. Korea is just about ok, perhaps 1st Indochina as I mentioned.

All this of course according to what I think makes this game enjoyable - for me.
