Div A
cromlechi German Imperial 1200-1319 AD
defeats
mcfcivo Aragonese 1275 – 1319
16-47
From a defensive formation utilising some terrain and the corner of the map, my dismounted knights took out a large number of the medium foot early on as they approached with crossbowmen. We had to soak up an initial volley of arrows as we advanced to meet the enemy before engaging. The battle was swift and bloody. My right flank held against repeated cavalry assaults allowing my left to push onwards. With his right flank destroyed my opponent was unable to recover. Some flattering rallies at the end made the score appear more decisive than the reality. Good game.

Aetius (Assyrians) defeats ulysisgrunt (Hebrews) 62-35
The Hebrews put up a tough fight; they held up well against the arrow bombardment but ultimately fell to a combination of flanks and chariots. GG!

Karvon Sarmation 350 BC w Skythian defeated Morat Roman 105-25 plus Moorish 49 - 22.
Woods masked off most of the right edge. A large plateau sat on the far right on the enemy side, looking down on these woods. A medium hill lay in the Roman center-left sector with medium woods shielding its right flank, and a smaller woods a bit further towards the edge, cutting down flanking space a little.
We deployed three commands of lancers supported by horse archers and screened by lights across the center with a smaller lancer command in reserve to the rear. We also had a small detachment of medium foot to help clear woods in reserve. This left us free to shift, depending on the Roman deployment.
The Romans chose to deploy on the medium hill on their right. Their legionnaires lined up along the hill with their cavalry covering their left flank. A small screen of lights covered their front, and a few light horse screened the open area between the woods on their right. A pair of heavy artillery sat behind the line to shoot at us.
We pushed forward one wing and our medium foot to sweep aside the screening lights and threaten their right. Our other commands shifted right to sweep around their left. The Romans advanced and took up positions along the slopes and refused their left in anticipation of our flanking moves.
As our right wing advanced, we discovered a large Moorish light horse command hidden behind the plateau. This led to a running skirmish as our lights and lancers slowly drove this back towards the main Roman body on the hill. We suffered a few losses, but eventually destroyed or chased most of this off the field.
On our left, our lights, supported by our lancers, dispatched the opposing lights and dealt with a couple of medium foot in and around the woods. Our lancers pushed on to threaten the rear of the Romans on the hill.
In the center, we drove in the enemy lights with charges and our lancers spread out to pin down the Roman foot, while our flanking moves developed. The Romans, unhappy with those prospects, began pushing back our lancers with a series of charges that took them off the slopes of the hill. This inevitably led to some of their foot getting disrupted and also broke up their lines. We took advantage of this, flanking and destroying several of their units, opening further gaps for us to exploit. We did lose a lancer or two, as sometimes they got flanked or fallbacks blocked.
On our right, with the destruction of the light horse, our units were free to fall on flanks and rears of engaged foot or to see off the surviving lights hiding behind their heavy foot. We also overran the Roman artillery.
These mounting losses proved too much, and the remaining Romans retreated from the field.

Solemnace Tuareg 950CE-1500CE defeats mcfcivo Aragonese 1275 – 1319 68-50
The Tuareg foot and Camel Lancers met a mixed force of Aragonese on a series of small hills. The Aragonese formed a solid defensive line in the centre to face the Tuareg foot while the Camel Lancers swept around the flanks to face the Aragonese flanks. The initial fighting was hard with a number of Tuareg losses but eventually they had forced the Aragonese to brink. Just as victory seemed all but certain luck turned against the Tuareg as rallying Aragonese revitalised the Spirit of their army at what otherwise seemed to be it's lowest moment. Overextended and tired Tuaregs were taken out by the rallying Aragonese and the freshly rallied Aragonese troops could nnot be quickly reached. The resurgense of Aragonese fortunes was short lived though as the Tuareg regrouped to sweep away both some of the ralliers and more Aragonese troops who had stood firm the entire time. With their army shattered the Aragonese withdrew knowing they had avoided an absolute disaster and made the Tuareg pay for their victory.

Ironclad Arab (Conquest) 638-684 AD defeated Rob123 Scots 851-1051 AD with Vikings 900 AD allies, 43-4
The Arab army deployed in a good defensive position with its infantry occupying woods on the left, an extended centre of veteran spearmen and occupied buildings on both flanks together with cavalry wings. The enemy advanced with its cavalry flanks and its interspersed Viking and Scottish infantry behinds its skirmishers.
As the skirmisher fight opened, the Arab left wing cavalry advanced to pin down its slightly outnumbered mounted opposition. The infantry battle proper opened as the Arab mediums emerged from the woods to engage the enemy in rough ground whilst the veteran spearmen moved forward in the open to take on the advancing enemy.
With their more numerous veterans the Arabs were able to take full advantage of the widening battle. In this they were assisted by an attack by one of their cavalry units into the rear of the infantry action after its pursuit of broken lights. The increasing pressure eventually proved too much for the Scots army and led to a decisive victory for the Arabs. Thanks for the game.
