Added in v1.6.0

Axis vs Allies Generator

A new option has been added under:
Army → Axis vs Allies Generator

Players can select:
1–5 Axis nations
1–5 Allied nations
force type
units per side
availability date
optional equal or separate budgets
Both armies have their own scrollable results table.
Default and custom nation assignments
The vanilla nations.pzdat is included with the program as the default side-assignment file.

The generator initially displays:
Nation assignments: Default
Players can choose:
Load custom nations.pzdat…
After loading another compatible file, the generator displays:
Nation assignments: Custom
together with the selected file path.

A Restore default button returns to the bundled file.

Blank side values are treated as neutral or unassigned and do not appear in either selection list.

The custom file only affects the Axis vs Allies Generator:
nations.json controls the displayed country names.
nations.pzdat controls Axis and Allied assignments.
Additional fixes

Class 19 is now correctly identified as:
River Boat
This applies to the Class filter, unit information, and generators.

All Army Generators now permanently exclude:
Class 6 — Structure
Trait — nopurchase
Trait — bonus

The next update, probably tomorrow, will set the default availability date for the army generators to 01.09.1939, no longer the current date. There will also be a new generator, handy when playing a campaign, allowing the generator to pick reinforcements, adding a random factor in a campaign playthrough. As always, comments and suggestions are welcome.

This is looking really good. I've played around with the Army Generator a bit and I have to say I'm excited about the possibilities. This is really good work.

I do have a suggestion for the unit viewer that might make it even easier to read and that would be to put the most important info on the left side, that is if it's not too much trouble to rearrange the table. Something like:
ID (could be subbed out for something else)
Class
Cost
Max Ammo
Max Fuel
Movement
Spotting
Range
Initiative
Soft Attack
Hard Attack
Air Attack
Naval Attack
Rate of Fire
Ground Defense
Air Defense
Close Defense

This group on the left and everything else on the right. It is just a suggestion and other people might have different opinions on what is more important. I will admit that this is me being nitpicky :roll: ; my apologies for my OCD.

But even if it's not possible, this is such an amazing tool and the Army Generator looks to be even more amazing. Thank you so much for all the work that you do and all the enjoyment you bring to this community.

Your feedback is very much appreciated. I will try to make it happen. Your suggestion might actually be a good basis to implement a unit comparison feature. The ID will remain on top because it is important data for modders.

Version 1.6.1 (not released, part of v1.6.3)

Version 1.6.1 introduced the Reinforcements Generator.

This generator allows the player to select:
one to five nations;
an availability date;
between one and ten reinforcement units;
a mandatory maximum total cost.
The generator attempts to provide the requested number of eligible units without exceeding the entered budget.
Generated army lists were also improved with clearer summaries showing:
Total number of units
Total cost
Number of units per selected nation
Two-sided generators display separate summaries for both forces.

The default date used by the Army Generators was standardized as:
01.09.1939
The unit-details section was also redesigned into one long, vertically scrollable column, making the information easier to read on smaller screens and at higher Windows display-scaling settings.

Version 1.6.2 (unreleased, part of v1.6.3)

Version 1.6.2 refined the Reinforcements Generator.

Instead of using the broader formation types used by the other Army Generators, the Reinforcements Generator now allows the player to request one specific equipment class:
Infantry
Tank
Recon
Anti-Tank
Artillery
Anti-Air
Fighter
Bomber
Level Bomber
For example, selecting Tank will generate only eligible tank units for the chosen nations, date, requested number of units, and maximum cost.
This change applies only to the Reinforcements Generator. All other generators continue to use their existing force types and formation templates.
The normal generator restrictions still apply. Units with the traits nopurchase or bonus are excluded, structures are not selected, and transport classes are not generated as independent combat units.

Version 1.6.3

Version 1.6.3 introduces a new built-in flag-set system.
The program no longer asks the user to select a separate Flags folder during first-time setup or after an update. The Standard and Uncensored flag sets are now included with the installation.

A new submenu has been added:
File
└─ Flag Set
├─ Standard
├─ Uncensored
└─ Custom
Standard uses the normal bundled flag set and is the default selection.
Uncensored uses the included alternative flag set.
Custom allows the user to select an external folder containing their own numbered PNG flag images.
The existing filename rule remains unchanged.
The active flag set is marked in the menu and remembered between program sessions. Switching sets updates the displayed flag immediately. If a selected Custom folder is missing or invalid, the program automatically falls back to the Standard set.

The Help section has also been updated. All old instructions referring to manually selecting a Flags folder have been removed.

Users updating from v1.6.0 (or lower) can install v1.6.3 over the existing version. Existing equipment, image, nation-name, template, and custom-path settings are preserved.

Version 1.6.5 is an important reliability update for the Army Generator system. It fixes a date-reading problem (the kink) that could silently exclude valid units and also adds readable text-file exports to every generator.

Global equipment-date fix

Earlier versions could fail to recognize equipment availability dates unless they used leading zeroes. This meant dates such as:
1.1.1939
1.7.1940
01.1.1941
could be treated as invalid, even though they are normal entries in equipment.pzeqp.

As a result, valid units could disappear from generated armies. Examples included Romanian infantry on 01.09.1941 and Italian tanks in Tank Division results.

Version 1.6.5 corrects this globally. The program now accepts all standard Panzer Corps date variants:

01.1.1939
1.01.1939
01.01.1939
The correction applies to all Army Generators:
Historical Army Generator
Balanced Random Army Generator
Budget Army Generator
Scenario-Date Army Generator
Reinforcements Generator
Nation vs Nation Generator
Axis vs Allies Generator
Chaotic Army Generator
User-entered scenario dates remain displayed in the familiar format:
DD.MM.YYYY
Improved army exporting

Every generator result window now includes two clearly named export options:
Save Army as JSON File
Save Army as Text File
Save Army as JSON File stores the generated army in structured form for later use through the Saved Armies system.

Save Army as Text File creates a readable .txt version suitable for campaign notes, sharing, printing, or manual reference.

The text export includes:
generator type;
scenario date;
selected nation or nations;
formation or reinforcement type;
unit names;
unit classes;
nation names;
equipment IDs;
individual costs;
total number of units;
total cost;
totals per nation.
For Nation vs Nation and Axis vs Allies results, both forces are saved in the same file with separate side sections and summaries.

Flag-set system

Version 1.6.5 also includes the flag-set system introduced in v1.6.3:
File → Flag Set → Standard
File → Flag Set → Uncensored
File → Flag Set → Custom
The Standard and Uncensored sets are included with the program, so the viewer no longer asks for a separate Flags folder during setup.

In summary

Version 1.6.5 makes army generation much more dependable, especially for nations whose equipment entries use dates without leading zeroes. It also makes generated armies easier to preserve and share through the new text-file export option.

Panzer Corps Equipment Viewer v1.7.x
What’s New

The v1.7.x series introduces two major new features: the Weather Predictor and the OOB Generator, together with a large number of interface, database, compatibility, and installer improvements.

Weather Predictor

A new Weather Predictor is available under:

Tools → Weather Predictor

The predictor can generate historically plausible weather for a selected scenario date and region.

It supports sixteen geographical regions, including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, European Russia, North Africa, the Middle East, East Asia, North America, and the Pacific.

Possible weather results include:
Clear
Overcast
Rain
Snow
Sandstorm
The tool also predicts ground conditions:
Dry
Mud
Snow
Rain and mud are handled using a more realistic continuous-weather rule. Ground becomes muddy only after two full days of uninterrupted rain and returns to dry conditions two full days after the rain ends.

The result can be saved as a plain-text report containing the selected date, region, turns per day, predicted weather, ground condition, and explanatory guidance.

Weather probabilities are stored in the editable file:
WeatherProfiles.json
This allows players and modders to adjust the monthly weather chances for every region.

The Weather Predictor is not connected to a live weather service and does not download forecasts from the internet. It is a scenario-design simulator based on editable, long-term regional climate probabilities. These broad regional values were extrapolated from long-term climate information published in sources on the internet.

OOB Generator

A new Order of Battle Generator is available under:

Army → OOB Generator

The generator creates historically inspired formations using units found in the currently loaded Panzer Corps equipment file.

The selection process is:

Nation → Service → Category → Formation → Scale

The former Scenario Date field has been removed. Instead, each formation is tied to its own historical year or organisational period.

Selecting a nation, service, and category now displays all matching formations. For example:

Germany → Land → Armored

shows the available German armored formations for the different years.

Annual Formation Templates

Land and air formations are organised into individual yearly versions from 1938 through 1946, where historically appropriate.

Examples include:
Panzer Division — 1939
Panzer Division — 1941
Infantry Division — 1944
Fighter Group — 1942
Bomber Wing — 1943
The selected formation year controls both the organisational structure and the equipment considered suitable for the generated OOB.

Formations are only shown for years in which they historically existed or had an appropriate successor. The generator does not create obviously impossible formations simply to fill every year.

German SS Divisions

German SS formations have been added under the Land service.

Available formation families include:
SS Infantry Division
SS Armored Division
Special SS equipment rules apply only to:
Class 0 — Infantry
Class 1 — Tank
For those two classes, the Short Name in the equipment file must begin exactly with uppercase:
SE
SS
Bonus infantry and tank units may also be selected for SS formations, but only when their Short Name begins with SE or SS.

All other unit classes in an SS formation, including artillery, recon, anti-tank, anti-air, and transports, are selected using the normal German equipment rules.

Units with the nopurchase trait remain excluded, and class 6 Structure units are never used.

Improved Equipment Selection

The generator now uses preferred equipment terms as weighting rather than as strict filters.

This gives the generator a broader and more varied pool of suitable units and helps prevent the same equipment IDs from appearing repeatedly in every generated formation.

Where several suitable entries exist, larger quantities may be distributed among multiple equipment types rather than assigning the entire role to a single unit.

Equipment selection also considers:
Nation
Unit class
Formation year
Equipment availability dates
Formation role
Historical suitability
Previous selections within the same generated OOB
Entries with invalid availability dates are ignored.

Supported equipment-file date formats include:
d.M.yyyy
dd.M.yyyy
d.MM.yyyy
dd.MM.yyyy

Editable Quantities and Formation Names

Generated unit quantities can be edited directly in the OOB table!

Quantity values are displayed in red to make them easier to identify.

The Formation Name field starts blank. A name is not required to generate an OOB, but it must be entered before saving.

When the field is blank, the program displays:

Please enter a formation name before saving the OOB.

Saving and Loading OOBs

Generated OOBs can be saved in two formats:
Plain text
JSON
JSON files are saved using the formation name, for example:
7th Armoured Division OOB.json
Saved OOB files preserve the exact selected equipment and quantities. Loading a saved OOB does not regenerate or reroll the formation.

If an equipment ID from a saved OOB no longer exists in the currently loaded equipment file, the entry is marked as:
Unresolved
Valid equipment entries are marked as:
OK
Older saved OOB files containing obsolete fields, such as Scenario Date, remain loadable. Obsolete fields are ignored.

Editable Formation Database

All formation definitions are stored in:

ScenarioOOBTemplates.json

This file can be edited by players and modders.

The database contains historical year, service, category, formation structure, organisational version, historical branch, status, component quantities, and equipment-selection rules.

A default copy is also supplied so the program can restore the current database when an older or incompatible template file is detected.

Installer-side template backup code that caused runtime errors has been removed. Template migration and backups are now handled safely by the application itself.

Thanks for all these changes; it’s quickly shaping up to be an indispensable gaming companion !

If I could make one last suggestion: would it be possible to "pin" a unit's stats? That way, you could compare it to a range of other units without having to go back and check its value again.
A bit like the game's purchase menu, where values ​​appear in red or green to indicate changes at a glance.
