Wow, OG Pz General screen. Haven't seen one of these for a quarter of a century.
I think I have found an issue with the available dates for the SE Italian units in the equipment file. I was awarded my first one after the Advance to Sidi Barrani victory and it was a Hurricane IIB. Now, techincally this had made its first flight by October 1940 when the scenario takes place, but I find it hard to believe that it had been produced, deployed in North Africa and captured by the Italians by that date.
It's actually not easy to find production dates for each variant, much less so when on holiday, but I did find a reference in an aviation forum that actually quotes an archival references:
https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/h ... ada.57003/
This claims the IIB to be in production from Feb 41 onwards, so realistically Italians could have only captured it mid-41.
I hadn't played Eagles since it came out. I admit I miss your maps from your other Italian North Africa campaign which has a bit more natural progress (the opening scenario in the oasis, BuqBuq, Mersa Matruh etc). Any particular reason why you don't integrate them in this campaign?

BTW the core import from Spain worked fine for me.

@Bond
When you finished Avanti per la Vittoria, was a *.pzcor file created? This is the file that saves your core army. For such a file to be created, the campaign must be completed and return to the main menu.
*.pzcor files can be found in:
Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps\SaveCore
When playing a linked campaign, the equipment file must be the same version or newer in order to import your army.
GME can have its hiccups, but that is beyond my area of expertise.
@Imp
The necessary corrections have been made to the equipment file. It is an ongoing process; every update to the equipment file includes corrections and improvements. Thanks for letting me know—it is much appreciated.
I didn't want the map design in Eagles in the Sand to become too repetitive.

There are some files there! Maybe the problem is with JMGE, but usually it transfers the old troop core to new companies without any issues if they're linked in a chain in stages.nikivdd wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 9:15 am @Bond

And judging by my comment here dated the 2nd, I have a file for the 2nd at the address listed in the documents. )

@Bond, i would try again by loading last save, end the scenario, check if a pzcor file was created by checking its timestamp. I'm at the end of my guessing.

That’s exactly what I did: I archived the file from the 2nd and today’s file – they’re both in the archives now!nikivdd wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 11:07 am @Bond, i would try again by loading last save, end the scenario, check if a pzcor file was created by checking its timestamp. Oh, now the cavalry is becoming my favourite branch of the armed forces again ) It doesn’t need to be refuelled and it’s mobile – in principle, that’s exactly how it was used during the Second World War ) Charging bare-chested with a drawn sabre was only done when pursuing an enemy that had already been routed and was fleeing!

As always, you're the boss of your own mod. But these are really GOOD maps and deserve to be recycled. Oasis and the "phalanx" defence especially were wonderful. The initial attack also developed nice and slow. I loved that campaign, and the only "criticism" I had was the use of the stock Afrika Korps campaign which gets too Germano-centric. Since you're going into the trouble of making everything yourself for this set of campaigns, I would use good old maps. But that's just me, and I only get to be a player for free, so my opinion counts only so much.nikivdd wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 9:15 am @Imp

One specific comment for Sidi Barrani here (the attack by the British). With an experienced and upgraded core it is way too easy a scenario. Despite 2 Matildas it wasn't hard to repel the attack very easily.
I would beef up the attacking forces. Definitely add a Hurricane and perhaps even create an LRDG attack axis from the desert side - at the moment I only got one Rolls Royce coming from there after the initial attack faltered. If the player needs to spread their forces on a wider perimer, then perhaps the attack of the Matildas will be harder to stop. Any really, air superiority should be tough to achieve.

Good idea for Sidi Barrani. I implemented the suggestions.imp44791 wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 3:10 pm

Most likely, there’s no one left to meet us there, as Soviet artillery and ground-attack aircraft have already taken out many of the machine-gun nests! I can’t see any tanks in this photo; they usually ride ahead of the infantry or alongside them (perhaps the cavalry is already following them into the breach). And on horseback, you’ll be able to close in on and pursue the enemy much faster than on foot ))) Yes, for the first two years of the war, cavalry were sometimes sent to their deaths wherever the Germans broke through the defences. We weren’t the French, after all, and couldn’t afford to give up, despite the huge losses suffered in the first two years of the Great Patriotic War!

Nico, have you checked my kernel, or are we still not going to connect it so we can carry on with the rendezvous in Africa? )))

@Bond
The saved cores don't work.
One final thing I can think of: do you load the main equipment folder and the add-ons separately with GME, or have you merged everything together?
And one final, final thing: I know that GME sometimes causes duplicate campaigns to appear in the Custom Campaigns list in Panzer Corps. Perhaps try them all?

Before that, I had installed *Avanti per la Vittoria* in exactly the same way

The French never surrender when led by General Charles de Gaulle.bondjamesbond wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 3:52 pm We weren’t the French, after all, and couldn’t afford to give up, despite the huge losses suffered in the first two years of the Great Patriotic War!![]()
The picture with the cavalrymen doesn’t seem very realistic; it comes across more like a posed scene.
In Europe, the American forces fielded only a few cavalry and supply units during the war. George S. Patton lamented their lack in North Africa and wrote that "had we possessed an American cavalry division with pack artillery in Tunisia and in Sicily, not a German would have escaped".

Well, at least someone ) I have great respect for Charles de Gaulle and the ‘Normandie-Neman’ air squadron, but I look down on the French SS troops who defended Berlin in 1945! I also regard my own collaborators with contempt!terminator wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 8:25 pmThe French never surrender when led by General Charles de Gaulle.bondjamesbond wrote: Sun Jul 05, 2026 3:52 pm We weren’t the French, after all, and couldn’t afford to give up, despite the huge losses suffered in the first two years of the Great Patriotic War!![]()

And anyway, cavalry and horse-drawn transport played just as much a part as motorised vehicles in the Second World War!

Re: PzC Series - Campagna d'Abissinia - Avanti per la Vittoria (24-28/06/26)
I continued Eagles to and including BuqBuq (defence). Very nice maps. The British could do with an additional Hurricane on the Buqbuq attack. The RAF is in general rather light. The player has to be incentivised to diversify his core with the (great) 90mm AA to deal with the British planes, and not just swamp them with 3 fighters.
I hear your point about not wishing to recycle, but I still think there is a place for the unique maps from the Afrika Corps campaign you made for the advance phase of the campaign, plus the phalanx scenario for the retreat. They will round off the campaign nicely. Skorpion etc will also work well for the following installments.
I will be travelling for the next couple of days, so no more updates from me realistically until I settle down in my next location of my tour later in the week.
