No reward for bridge in DLC Italy Vol1, Operation Fustian scenario

Seems the split part bug rears its head again, my full No.3 Commando unit captures the Malati Bridge, but the game lost track of the unit after it having been split earlier and does not trigger the promised Commando unit + Hero.

So, if the briefing mentions a specific unit, never ever split that unit in the scenario (at least until the event has triggered and is final). With the Flexible Command trait, splitting+joining is very common.

Maybe there are also events like that which are not mentioned in the briefing, then you won't know of course. It could be wise to avoid all splitting (and the Flexible Command trait).

It was supposed to give you that unit and its hero (disband the aux unit and respawn one of the exact status for you as core), so yes, if you have it split, you cannot trigger the event since splitting reassigns a new id for a unit, and all scripts tracking a unit uses a predefined id.

Well explained, and I assume the person that implemented splitting as if the unit identity was a throwaway attribute has left the company (rightly so) and let me guess now people are terrified of touching the game engine because every change they make risks introducing other bugs ;-)

This is easily fixed by adding a "No Split" hero in map creation. Kerensky addresse a similar issue that was initially a bug with a medical transport in "AO Spanish Civil War - Teruel" by doing this exact thing in a later patch. If the unit cannot be split at all, the problem gets solved easily without having to mess with code.

As for the specific team responsible for the Italy Vol.1 DLC fixing the issue... I'm skeptical. There were still unresolved scripting errors in Frontlines: Cyrenaica reported by the community a few months back (with exact info on how to fix it in lua files) and unless there was some silent update I did not hear anything about those bugs getting resolved. :(

Another bug inthe British landing scenario ?

I don't see the historical narrative event capturing General Achille D'Havet. I kill the unit with this Hero, and nothing happened.

@terminator I see you have 6137 postings here on the Slitherine forum. That's about 60 times more than me.
It cannot be a question about game mechanics, can it?

Just make the unit surrender with some remaining strength points left. A dead general cannot talk ;-)
