glitch in 1st Guards?

In the second scenario of the new Red Guards campaign the objective is to meet up with the units of the first army. However twice in my experience when my forces get to the point they can do this the Japanese control the area and the first army is gone. Thus I lose the scenario even when I have destroyed the enemy, captured their air fields etc. Other times I have made such a meet and won the scenario. Have others had this experience? Seems like a glitch

Did you mode anything in the game? The base settings and stats, even on Generalissimus are balanced in such a way that the infantry you need to meet up with will retreat, but should not get destroyed. Japanese units in the area also do not pursue such retreating forces and stand ground, so baring some pathing issue that would cause a tank to wander into the area, there should no situation in which the units you need to meet up with get wiped out.
