Cyreniaca Battle of Beda FOMM British - HUH??????

Ok, I am markedly confused. I've been playing Cyrenaica as the British and I just hit the battle of Beda Fomm. After a quick loss I turned off Fog of War to see why. You are tasked with capturing "The Pimple" before the Italians. This seems impossible as they start 3 hexes down the road from it and my nearest troops are 20 hexes away across the desert. How is this remotely doable?

You just need to rush along the roads with fast units. The path is undefended, so if you optimize for speed, you can reach the objective before the first enemy wave hits.
