Warring States Ally

Post by sergiomonteleone »

Hi there,
is not clear if Tribal allies must have an ALLIED COMMANDER.
Reading Empires of Dragon army list at pages 28-29 it seems yes.

Hi,Sergio
I dont think so because the only ally commanders I can see in the list are Chinese and they can only be used until 202 BC, and
the Han get tribal allies after 200 BC.

If they are listed in the optional troops section of the list, I believe they are just treated as other troops in the army with the normal chain of command, e.g. no ally general allowed or required. If they are listed as allowed allies outside the table of allowed troops, then they would be a normal allied contingent.

Hi Jeff,
but at page 28 there is "A Chinese allied commander's continget ............"

at page 29 Cinese commander allied on the top and on the buttom Tribal allies.

In my opinion is not clear.

My answer is to to know if it's possible to gain 10 points regarding a TC.

A Chinese Allied commander's contingent is one made up using the Warring States/Western Han allies list, not troops from the main list. The Chinese ally general listed in the main list is to indicate how many Chinese allied contingents may be used, not to command troops other than those taken from the Allies list. I believe that you will see Chinese allies listed at the end of the list along with other allied contingents that are allowed. (I don't have my copy of EoD handy. Also check the notes at the back of the book about setting up an army using points.) I believe the Tribal Allies within the main list are closer to being subject troops rather than independent allies which would merit their own ally general.

Hi Chris
I completely agree.
But in the Warring States army there aren't allies (see pag.30).
I guess they have missed probably Early Horse Nomad.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear

The Tribal allies do not need an Allied Commander and, indeed, cannot have one - for the reasons others have posted.
