Stepping forward in pursuit

Post by Scrumpy »

From a game last night...

My MF break an enemy MF bg, in their pursuit 2 bases contact a fresh unit, can the other bases step forward the rest of their pursuit move to maintain contact with the broken unit ?

The distance needed was a fraction of an inch.

Cheers

Check the pursuit section - IIRC it states that a pursuit that contacts new enemy counts as a charge and. therefore, it follows you must step forward as you have no option in a charge.

Caveat - posting from memory which could be foolish ...

Pursuers don't step forwards.
Chargers do.

A pursuit that contacts a fresh enemy becomes a charge and therefore steps forwards.

When do you step forward? When you make contact with the newly contacted enemy or during the next impact phase?

As soon as you make contact.

Any combats would not be resolved until the next impact phase.

(This is now where Spike chimes in and asks what happens to a fragmented BG that is hit by the stepping forward but passes the CT for being charged)

Nah, that's easy. They fight (as best they can) in the next impact phase.
