What color Vallejo paints do you use for English Longbow?

Post by flameberge »

I've noticed in the pictures of English longbow troops I've seen painted the bows always look almost white and was wondering if anyone had some advice on what colors I should use to paint these.

Another question, the armor I see many of the longbowmen wearing, an example would be the center archer on pg 8 of Storm of Arrows, what is that linen colored stuff made out of. Is it some type of cloth armor.

Sand or beige for the sapwood (tension side) and brown for the heartwood (compression side)?

Gee using two colours to paint longbows it sounds like extra work I just use beige and black wash the bow and Figure afterwards and it looks fine.

The mass effect would be cool though. I am going to try it on my Welsh. I read about the heartwood/sapwood color switch just recently in Bernard Cornwell's "Agincourt".

Dark to the archer, light to the foe . . .

Would bite to get it wrong!
