A game of two parts. The first saw the French gain a substantial lead as their lancers crushed the opposition and the second witnessed a surprising and fortuitous recovery by the Avars thanks partly to a strong defensive position on high ground which led swiftly to a decisive result. A good and quickly played game, thanks.

Stones1985 (Dayyubid) beat random 27 (Ghaznavid) by a score of of 64 to 53. As always a tough close game against a strong opponent.

Div B

alexhstandish (German and Magyar) draws with IMC (Dailami and Khorassanian) 50 :59

The German infantry fell back onto a hill in the centre whilst all the Dailami and Khorasanian cavalry moved to their left flank. The German lancers did the same and the cavalry forces clashed with initial results going with the Khorasanians. However, the lancers persevered and fought their way back, breaking some cavalry and supporting infantry.

Meanwhile the mass of Dailami infantry took on the German foot. The German defensive spear proved very brittle but the dismounted lancers showed their worth.

A very close and enjoyable battle, with the Germans just missing out on a win. Thanks for the game IMC.

Score 16-43 - the Rus were unfortunate to become split by rough ground forcing attacks uphill and into woods.

Hari72 Byzantine 988-1041

Score 18-43 - the Byzantine left with a large number of cavalry became mixed up with a few of the poorer Viking shield walls and though overwhelming them were depleted by pursuits and frustrated from concentrating again by terrain. Meanwhile, and with some luck, the massed Huscarls and all the Viking lights overwhelmed the outnumbered Byzantine foot.

Yay! Croatian spears for my first tournament win.
A big "thank you" to all the organizers and all the participants, it was fun and very tense in quite a few battles.
