So I am playing Panzer Corps 2 Axis Operations 1942 and greatly enjoying it. I have imported the core all the way from the SCW and I have an unit of Azul infantry with 5 stars that is utterly insanely powerful with a specific combo of heroes (Oleh Dir + Overrun hero + Ignores Entrenchment hero). See the video link below (i tried putting it inside the post but the YouTube tags don't work for me).

Is it perhaps too powerful? It just goes through enemy units like butter, the only limit is how much ammo it has.

Yes, I've always given Azul infantry "ignore entrenchment" heroes - they perform like pionieres.
I keep Dir for a pioniere, though, as they need the speed.
I used to give my overrun heroes to recons for clean up duty, but now think pionieres and Azul infantry may be better homes for them as they can use it for more important attacks.
Unyielding is a good hero for Azul and Pionieres - they can shrug off defensive artillery support and better endure any counter-attacks the turn after taking key hexes.
I'm wondering about giving Vigilant heroes to Wehr infantry - their zero close defence really undermines them, compared to Azul and pionieres. I try to make historical force compositions work, but it's a struggle later on with most infantry.

No Surrender is another one to think about. My infantry tends to get bounced around (retreat), run out of movement points, and then surrender.

Give the heroes to a Tiger I + 1,5x rapid fire and some overstrength. 6 ammo ==> 6 kills, doesnt matter what you attack.strezahuzum wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2026 8:38 pm Is it perhaps too powerful? It just goes through enemy units like butter, the only limit is how much ammo it has.
Some hero combinations are just broken. Either you dont use them, or you adjust the diffuculty, by picking bad traits or activate David vs Goliath.

But in this particular case, Dir is an infantry hero and tanks already get overrun, so the only hero you could give is ignore entrenchment. That might be ok if the Tiger had vigilant, but I prefer giving ignore entrenchment to Azul infantry. Unlike tanks, they can access the close defence of targets and I generally prefer to use tanks out in the open.
It's a good hero for Rudel too - I picked tank killer and double attack for Rudel, but then gave him heroes for the two other choices, ignore entrenchment and double move, as all four options are very strong.

Excatly, a Tiger doesnt need overrun and Ole Dir, so you can use rapid fire and another op thing like zero slots or double fire. Vigilant is nice to have, but you can just overrun everything that might be a tread and/or move after the last action to open field.econ21 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2026 12:12 pm

In the end it doesnt really matter which unit is using op hero combinations, just saying its not the azul infantrie in particular, that can be overpowered.

But if you use up all the ammo on your turn, doesn't that make your unit a sitting duck for the AI to bash? I thought my units get resupplied with ammo and fuel at the start of my next turn.DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:13 am Give the heroes to a Tiger I + 1,5x rapid fire and some overstrength. 6 ammo ==> 6 kills, doesnt matter what you attack.
