Re: TDC IX Early Medieval - Results
Div A:
Nijis (Sicilians) defeats Triarii (Germans) 46-20.
The disciplined German infantry routed the Sicilian center in a battle that raged over rolling hills, but on the left flank the ardent southern knights swept away their opposition. A valiant stand in rocky terrain by javelin-throwers took one company of German knights out of the fight for virtually the entire battle. Meanwhile, on the Sicilian right, Lombard crossbowmen aided by Muslim light horse overwhelmed a group of German light troops and wheeled around to complete the victory.
(Neither of us were quite sure how the Sicilians won this one, but that was my best reconstruction.)

Div A
Karvon Libyans 650 BC defeated random27 indian 500 BC 52 - 27.
Battle was joined on a jungle-surrounded plain. Large patches filled most of our right sector and the opposing Indian far left. A large patch fell in our left-center sector and several covered parts of the Indian sector across the field.
We divided our forces roughly in half, deploying our foot in the jungles, with our lights holding the fringes and our chariots in reserve behind the trees.
The Indians had a mass of bow screened by a few lights and medium spear. A couple of elephants and light and heavy chariots supported each flank with a few horse.
We initially, held most of forces hidden in the jungle, but showed a few of our chariots out on our far right between patches of jungle as bait.
The Indians lumbered forward, behind their screen of lights. On finding our lights in the jungle, we shot up their lights, and they brought up their bow to deal with us. On our right, they shifted their mounted, led by their elephants, to drive through our chariots, which slowly fell back before their advance.
As our lights got disrupted, we fell back through the trees to rally, while continuing to focus our fire on his mounted and elephants. On our right we sortied out on the flank of the leading elephants with our lights and dispatched them, which badly shook the nerves of the neighboring horse. These were further shaken by shooting from our bow, and then our chariots swept away the fragmented survivors.
On our left, our chariots and foot sortied out, flanked and destroyed his medium spears, then overran the bowmen behind. A probe around the right of the jungle was contained by some of our bowmen.
On our right, our foot held off an assault on the jungles by his foot and elephants, and our chariot reserve tied up an attempt to flank by his heavy chariots. On the far right, our pursuing chariots saw off some of his foot.
