The Sarmatian cavalry withstood the brutal assault of the Germanic warbands and exploited gaps to flank and disrupt morale enough to drive them back.

Division C

Chris Townsend's Kingdom of Soissons 461 w/ Germanic Foot Tribes defeat rockmanbob123's Khazar 568 44 to 16.

The terrain was largely open, with woods on each of the Kingdom's flanks, though there was a middle ground marsh on the right. The Khazar's also had woods on their left, and some rough behind their lines, but an open right flank. The Khazars brought nomad horse archers (light and medium), backed by lancers. The Kingdom deployed most of their true Romans and skirmishers on their right, with a main line of warbands and sub-Roman, backed by the few available lancers. The terrain constrained the ability of the Khazar horse to sweep around the Roman right and the warbands and sub-Romans were able to mostly advance, despite taking casualties from missile fire and charges. Although thee were two breakthroughs by Khazar lancers, the Kingdom managed to maintain some semblance of a line, pushing the nomad archers up against the unfavourable terrain. When the line disintegrated, there were a few tense moments, but, when the dust settled, the infantry had managed to win enough of the fights before the pursuing lancers returned to the battle.

rockmanbob123 Khazars defeated Indibil Romans with samartians 55-17

The Khazar horsemen were very fortunate with a nice grassy open field.

The Roman infantry in the center did bring alot of horseman to the field of battle, with horse on both flanks.

The Khazars decided to enfilade attack the Roman left and their initial charge steamrolled the Sarmatian/roman horse force on the initial charge, flanking the infantry in the center and starting an early rout.

Fortune favored the attacker.

rockmanbob123 Khazars defeated ulysisgrunt Western Hunnic 46-20

The Khazars knowing the lethality of Hunnic bows, decided to but a large force of light and massed archers in a small forest just on their side of the battlefield, hiding their light horse behind this forest with their heavy lancers hidden in the forest at the end of the field.

The light bowman got the Huns to chase into the forest allowing the Khazars to whittle down the Hunnic horse. The Khazar light horse feigned a retreat and the Huns chased. The counterattack of the heavy Khazar heavy lancers were able to clear the field of the now disorganized Huns.
