SimonLancaster (Byzantine + Arab) defeated Garokan (Axumite + Beja) 60-41.
Difficult match against a good army. Thanks to Garokan for the game and I am sure he will do well in this division.

Division C
Chris Townsend's Kingdom of Soissons 461 w/ Germanic Foot Tribes defeat ulysisgrunt's Western Hunnic 376 59 to 33.
The Kingdom managed to choose a favourable battle ground - water protecting their right flank and woods protecting their left, with space in the middle to deploy their heavy infantry. The Hunnic cavalry (75% archers, remaining lancers) left their infantry behind and charged forward. They quickly won the light cavalry battle on the Kingdom's extreme left flank, and also managed to exploit some holes to get some units through on the beach, and the lancers punched another hole. However, in typical fashion, the victorious cavalry took too long pursuing, and the horse archers got bunched up and kettled between the advancing infantry, the sea and some difficult terrain. Victory was secured by some of my initially defeated cavalry rallying.
Good game!

Division C - Corrected scores!
Chris Townsend's Kingdom of Soissons 461 w/ Germanic Foot Tribes defeat Solemnace's Vandal 500 49 to 20.
The map roll was good for the Kingdom, giving what looked like home territory - lots of woods, a difficult hill in the centre, and a nice hill to deploy my heavy infantry on the left flank. The Vandal's (entirely Armoured Noble Lancers) had lots of open space on their side of the map, but, true to form, chose to advance, though cautiously. My only visible troops were my square of heavy infantry (a mix of sub-Roman and frontier legions) supported by a few skirmishers and a few light cavalry. I decided to send my medium infantry marching from the centre (where they had been hidden by a hill) to the extreme left flank as the Vandals threatened to surrounds my large square. As the lancers were about to pounce, I revealed my warbands, a cavalry contingent, and some javelin men, drawing away some Vandal troops and discouraging any thoughts of surrounding the heavy infantry by going over the central hill. The Vandals had to decide how many units to divert, and probably made the right decision as the overall result of that battle was roughly a draw. Meanwhile, after surviving the initial vandal charges, the heavy infantry yielded to a concentrated attack on one corner of the square, but this was countered by the medium infantry, supported by missile fire, emerging out of the woods. So it deteriorated into a scattered confrontations of small groups of heavy infantry and lancers, with equal honours. However, the tendency of cavalry to dash off in all directions when they are victorious eventually led to the field of battle being dominated by the surviving heavy infantry and skirmishers. A very interesting battle!

Division C - Reposting with Corrected scores and opponent!!!
Chris Townsend's Kingdom of Soissons 461 w/ Germanic Foot Tribes defeat Rob123's Arab (city) 300 with Sassanid Persians 49 to 20.
The map roll was good for the Kingdom, giving what looked like home territory - scattered woods and hills and lots of open in the centre. The Kingdom put maximum Romans on its left, a mix of warbands and sub-Romans (with a skirmisher screen) for the rest of the line, and light cavalry supported by a Nomad archer or the extreme right. The the Arab heavy infantry occupied their centre, supported by skirmishers, massed archers and elephants. Each flank had a contingent of medium and light cavalry. It was the first time the Kingdom's troops had seen elephants, and the results were predictable. On the other hand, the northern climate obviously did not agree with the Arab heavy infantry. Their desire to go home, coupled with their left flank cavalry's defeat decided the battle.

Morat Byzantine 571-579 with German Horse Tribe draws with Karvon Ancient British: Morat scored 51, Karvon scored 50.
Enormously enjoyable game against a highly skilled opponent. First few turns involved the Byzantines bumping into Britains who seemly came out of no-where. Battle turned into two brawls - on the hills where the Byzantines got the upper hand and on the plains - where the British light and chariots caused mayhem. In the end darkness intervened to separate the sides.
Thanks to Karvon for a memorable match.
