Division B

Maeglyr's Ottomans defeats Solemnace's Swiss [ 51 - 7 ]

In a alternate reality, the swiss confederation firmly wanted access to the sea.

Surrounded by grumpy europeans forces, they preferred to try their luck on the Ottoman lands, convinced that their well-organized infantry would know how to fracture the Sublime Porte.

It was without considering the infinite hordes of mounted archers who marauded in search of beautiful pennants.

Despite a morale of steel and several clever attempts to take in reverse the elusives and unbearables sipahis, under a shower of arrows and bullets, the Swiss keils and hallebardiers could only hold the field for a few hours before retreating, bitter, towards their gentle mountains.

Good game, Solemnace, but it's difficult to go east with this roster !

Division B

Maeglyr's Ottomans defeats ulysisgrunt's Frenchs [ 49 - 23 ]

From time to time, even the most solid friendships require a good little conflict to release steam. Speaking of, the French steamrollers really wanted to flatten two or three timariotes.

The French aristocracy, despising the foot soldiers, decided to ignore the earthfills bastions on the Ottoman left flank. There, shelling and janissaries would hide, ready to unleash deadly flocks.

On the right flank, the Ottoman commander-in-chief, Ibrahim Firuz Pasha, a paragon of arrogance, rushed before the jewel of the French nobility, thinking easily avoid their presumed clunky charges. The price was high. Several sipahis formations were trampled upon, without shame.

Learning the lessons of his failure, Ibrahim Firuz Pasha, in a great surge of strategic audacity, firmly decided that it was time for him to courageously flee the battlefield and let his Janissaries open the cans in his place.

The rest of the army knew how to demonstrate discipline in the face of this setback and the knights with lilies, overwhelmed, ended up surrendering their weapons.
I had fun and I feared the knight's wrath until the end. Nothing is sure with these beasts !

Solemnace Swiss 1476CE-1477CE defeats wzfcns french 1480-1483 AD 48-11

While the French knights and their Swiss mercenaries proved to be quite reisliant against the Swiss pikes and Halberds the supporting french units proved less capable. Many were cut down before they exposed the rear of one of the Mercenary Keils to the enemy. They fought on a little longer before collapsing forcing the French to flee before the rest of them were cut down.

Solemnace Swiss 1476CE-1477CE defeats rockmanbob123 german (Imperial) 1488-1500 52-25

Swiss Keils faced their German imitators and while the German fought hard and drove off or wiped out many of the supporting Swiss units they could not break the Swiss Keils who destroyed enough of the German army to give a victory to the Swiss.

Division B

Solemnace Swiss 1476CE-1477CE defeats Indibil Venetian 1440-1500 45-16

Both sides initial deployed to defensive positions too good for either side to attack. The Swiss on the other side of a river and the Venetians on top of a high rough hill. After a moment of comtemplation both came down on to the smoother ground in front of the river with many Venetian crossbows trying to use a smaller hill to help them hold their gorund against the Swiss. This worked against the Swiss Halberdiers but failed against the Swiss Keils who crushed most of the Crossbowmen while a battle between Venetian light horse and Swiss light foot ended in the favor of the Swiss. The Venetians outflanked the Swiss mercenary knights on the right but this effort while destructive was slowed by the brave knights who held on as long as they could giving time for the rest of the Swiss army to tear the Veneitians to pieces and a supporting Keils to kill one of the knights to hand victory to the Swiss.

Solemnace Swiss 1476CE-1477CE defeats ulysisgrunt French 1484-1500 52-27

Initially the Swiss deployed defensively in the face of the large number of French knights and supporting units. They eventually shifted to the offensive taking out some of the French artillery at the loss of two Keils one which rallied and drew one of the French Swiss keils away from the main fight where some of the French supporting units were destroyed at the cost of the Swiss artillery and some of the Light foot. The battle came to an end when one of the French Swiss keils was shattered and the French quit the field.

Division B

Maeglyr's Ottomans defeats wzfcns's Frenchs [ 52 - 22 ]

The French vanguard, composed of archers and crossbowmen, deployed a sustained shot against the sipahis. They chose to ignore these shots and to load savagely into the pile a wild charge in their ranks, supported by a triplet of entrenched bombards.

Stuck between two thick woods and their shooting infantry being harassed, pikemen and billmen could not properly deploy and vainly sought to catch the timariotes. They ended up surrounded, isolated from each other, without support.

A large part of the French knighthood was distracted from the main battles by an intrepid attack of the djanbazans, coming from the rear. These were ruthlessly routed by Guillebert de Castries and his écuyers, but gave the rest of the army time to break through the French lines and disperse their cohesion.

When, on the right flank, the Ottoman skirmishers, gunners and light cavalry from the Balkans, were surprised by volleys of arrows coming out of the forest, the Iaylars were ready, in reserve, and hunted one by one the French archers in the woods.

In the end, the French retreated without almost any knight having bitten the dust. The honor was safe!
Thanks for the game, wzfcns !

mcfcivo Castillan 1476-1497 59% loss

Very good game where the French held in the centre against the Castillian heavy foot where pike and knights traded blows. The French right overpowered the Castillian left after trading missiles for an extended period. Castillian centre was defeated with the support of the French right and this was concluded just as the French left was collapsing. GG
