Spartan Army

Hi all,

First mail so hello.

I have just purchased the rules for the game and am in the process of buying my starting army of Spartans.

A friend recommended Xyston for figs so have bought their boxed set but was wondering if some kind soul could recommend what other figures in their range I need to round out the starting army from the Immortal Fire book and also if you could recommend any others worth looking at,

I have also bought the Spartan generals set for commander figures along with 3 additional packs of cavalry.

Boxed set? Do you miean DBA spartan army by Xyston? If so, that box includes only 40 hoplites, enough for a BG and half another one. For a entire spartan army I would use, among Xyston range, spartan hoplites in metal cuirass for true spartan citizens, A.K.A. Homoioi; Spartan hoplites in linen cuirass for periokoi, and spartan unaurmored hoplites for neodamodei.
Also, greek psiloi and Skiritai for LF.

Just a thought do you have to take the Cavalry can't you change them to LH.

Do you need the Ally can't you take saome more Spartans.

Good army but if you keep this people will go for anything apart from the Spartans thats why i would drop them and the Cavalry.

Cavalry can't be LH IIRC. In any case, they are not there to fight, they are rear support for the average troops.

The allies are there ot bulk up the army, I would put them in the middle surrounded by Spartans, come get em if you dare. But you don't "need" the ally and it is possible to have lists with just spartans.
