Byzantine Infantry and cavalry including numerous horse archers proved quite the challange for Rajput Lancers and Elephants. The result ultimately went to the Rajputs after much hard fighting.

The German took up a strong defensive postion to stop the Rajput elephants and Lancers but there left Flank proved to be too weak to resist the Rajput attack and crumbled despite the best efforts of the German knigths.

That was a very challenging battle. The Knights of St John were extremely hard to deal with and it was only by luck that the English came out ahead. Both armies were made up of scraps of nothing by the end. My knights were riding into the distance to avoid any further fighting. They would only need to stub their toes and they would autobreak. Longbowmen proved their worth compared to massed archers as they stood toe to toe with spearmen for long enough for reinforcements to bring some aid. I don't think I have ever lost so many troops and still claimed a victory. That was very enjoyable and could easily have gone the other way. More battles like this one please!

Maeglyr's Byzantines defeats ulysisgrunt's imperials Germans [ 45-11 ]

It was a minor quarrel over which Emperor had precedence over the other.

The Western knights, more accustomed to static and pitched battles, were disconcerted to see the Byzantines,
their brothers in Christ, to use tactics worthy of the Huns or the Magyars. What decadence!

The imperial right flank (of the usurper) was made up of recruits and did not hold out long against the cavalier determination of the mercenaries coumans. The breach signaled the end of Germanic claims.

A very narrow battlefield led to a very intense battle. The Armenians and crusaders brought a very interesting army. Early success went to the Armenians who burst through my right flank breaking everything in their path, but bloodlust got the better of the enemy cavalry and they were so busy killing stragglers that I was able to hold in the centre and push forward on the left. The English and the Irish proved to be braver than their opposition and managed to bag a victory before the Armenian cavalry could return to the fray and break my battle line from behind.

The English army (mostly Scottish Spearmen) deployed initially in what appeared to be an exposed formation with archers and crossbowmen in front of the spearmen before swiftly redeploying as the Rajput Lancers closed in to a formation which both protected the Archers and still let them shoot. This worked well for a while before the brave sarifices and elephants and Rajput horsemen began to break down the formation and the supporting mounted knights. Eventually the entire structure collapsed completely and the Rajput horsemen flooded into sweep aside most of the English army leaving only three units of Scottish spearmen still standing strong on the battlefield surrounded by their fleeing comrades and Rajput Lancers and Elephants and the piles of bodies from both sides.

The Rajputs caught the Russians and their Tartar allies off balance before the battle even began by bringing a vast horde of Lancers and Elephants to counter the Horse Archers they expected to face. Having expected to face foot archers the Russian plan was immeaditely ruin and even mroe so when they struggled to keep their forces facing the enemy as they charged with even their best fleeing when Elephants were too close. In the end too many men had falled in the battle for the Russians to continue and with many already about to flee a swift end arrived despite the many Rajput losses to arrow fire in the process.

Maeglyr's Byzantines defeats Indibil's Crusaders with byzantines allies [ 55 - 28 ]

An infamous Crusader army, misguided by its sacred purpose, supported by rebellious elements of the Empire, seeks to strip Byzantium of its territories. The fight will be tough.

The Byzantines sent the best elements of their mounted archery to create a diversion on the right flank of the crusading army and distract the European knights supported by steppe mercenaries. Some of the knights, suspecting cunning, quickly disengaged, in order to return towards the center of the battlefield. This flank will see interesting chases and a famous mud fight between mounted archers.

On the other side, the mounted elite of the crusade was broken by a reckless movement of encirclement of the Byzantines, emerging in number from a hill. Boldness, always boldness and above all a lot of luck!

Shaken by the flight of their glorious paladins, the crusade infantry constituting the center of the army was swept away. The infamous Eberhard von Oldenburg, at the head of the traitors of the Varangian Guard, was faced to the end, waiting for the return of the European knights.

Unfortunately, these could not return in time to prevent the debacle. They could, however, exert their vengeance on several isolated elements of the Byzantine ost.

Many bodies litter the ground, but the Byzantine Empire has repulsed, for this time, the European invasion.

Stones 1985 (Order of St John) beat Nijis (Sicilian) by a score of 55 to 23.

Nothing seemed to go right for my opponent from the off. His units lost melees they might have won and lost badly those they were down on. His units charged reasonable targets but pursued in the wrong directions putting themselves into jeopardy. That enabled me to build up a big lead which despite a valiant fight back I was able to see through.

Division C

Maeglyr's Byzantines defeats wzfcns's english and scottish allies [ 53 - 0 ]

In the face of the Byzantine pretensions to establish a new Hadrian’s Wall, stood a strong party of Scottish spears, supported by English archers. The Anglo-Norman chivalry was waiting in the rear for the opportunity to break the enemy infantry spread under their hooves. This opportunity did not present itself, because the Byzantines chose to attack quickly and massively.

The strong Scottish formation was not ready to face a shower of light cavalry and mounted archers. It broke apart when several units began to try to establish contact with the fleeing horsemen. The gaps in formation were used by the Byzantine skoutatoi and mounted lancers and allowed several severe flank charges.

An interesting Scottish reserve force held the left flank, composed of glorious and fierce galwegians and highlanders. It was too far from the fighting and was delayed by some units on horseback. It only left the swamps to see the rest of the fleeing army.
