One example is the main Rome campaign: it begins with the First Punic War and the struggle for Sicily and is then expanded step by step. Each expansion represents a major historical phase or turning point, rather than every single year in between.

That's a very good thing that I came back on this topic to read this post since ...

Image

... I also decided to start a 10 scenarios long campaign about the 1st year of the 1st punic war like 30 minutes ago
(that's Messana and Regium  )

My first thought is logically to cancel mine (after all, I'm just at the start of the first map), but at the same time, I start to think it could be interesting to tell the same events but with our own campaigns
But I'm also thinking that Uzbek will try to find me to force me to continue to work on my serbian campaign if I continue to delay it...
No problem. Well, I'll leave it up to you to continue with the campaign; I'll think of something else. Rome is big. Since I'm continuing the next part of my campaign with Rome's enemies (Brennus), it will take a while before I start the main campaign anyway. Let me know.

Here are the first units from Epirus, Hoplites, Militia Hoplite, Royal Peltast, Skirmisher Cavalry, King's Guard, Royal Guard, Thessalian Cavalry... More will follow. And the coat of arms or flag in the game.

Thank you very much!
So, I'm done with the Celtic design for now, but I still need to adjust the equipment files and sounds. However, I still have a lot of work to do on the design of the Etruscans and Epirotes. In addition, a few new Roman units will be added. Only then can I start working on the campaign. I'll keep you posted.

Indeed, the Republican Guard maintains its equestrian tradition for ceremonial reasons and respect for tradition, they always parade on horseback on Bastille Day.
I know that small units of horses exist, so that they can be theoretically deployed as supply transport in terrains where no vehicles can go (typically mountains far from a dangerous regions), but I have no idea if it was done recently.

Still, we don't have gladius nor scutum today :(
I do a single small campaign to see how the roman mod work, then I continue on MC again a bit

By the way :

Since I continue to make a custom campaign for March of the Eagles, I will open a separate topic soon to not overlap with main work made by Tobi.
My first campaign will cover the first year of the 1st punic war, with the romans. It will start with the crossing of Messana strait and end with the Romans approaching Syracuse.

Hey, that looks good, I'm looking forward to it. And yes, it doesn't matter at all if Sicily is conquered twice, the players will certainly be happy about it.

Far away, the Serbian scorpion began to weep. However, cavalry and people with shields still exist even in different parts of the world. This year is the Year of the Horse, which is probably why you rushed back to ancient times.

Thank you, I'm glad to hear that. So the slaves must be in the army reserve. Then click on the slaves or livestock units you want to sell and press one of the two Cmd/Alt keys on your keyboard, located to the right and left of the space bar, as well as the D key. A window will appear asking if you really want to disband the units... Yes... :!:

Oh, that's probably my favourite thing to do in this game: selling livestock and slaves ))) And using the prestige I earn to upgrade and heal my elite troops )))

It's not clear whether there will be a Spartacus uprising, as these slaves will already look like this )))

That's excellent news.

Well, we have to start with the fact that Spartacus was far from being the first, although he was the most famous leader of a slave uprising. But how often did slaves revolt in Ancient Rome? It turns out – very often!

Militaries back then didn't have complex supply routes, the best way to feed a large army was to let them loot the country and sell what's left to pay the soldiers when the campaign end. I also greatly appreciated to have this historical detail in some scenarios.

About Spartacus, I guess that it is even closer to what we think : I saw units (still without icons) called "Retiarus" and "Thraex" in the list of units in the game editor. Gladiators are already in the game files, they are just still unfinished

Indeed, Spartacus is not special in the sense that he was the only one to rebel; but the one who was most successful in his rebellion.

I have a preference for the "Republican period" over the "Imperial one", and for now we have a Carthagian campaign between 1st and 2nd punic wars ; an incoming Brennus campaign ; and a Spartacus revolt was suggested.
That's perfect for me

Here is a rough overview of the current plans for the first Roman campaigns:

– First Punic War (264–241 BC)
– Second Punic War (218–201 BC)
– Roman campaigns in the Iberian Peninsula (197–133 BC)
– The Third Punic War (149–146 BC), possibly not as a full standalone campaign, but rather as a focused mission set or scenario within another campaign
– Macedonian Wars and Greece (214–133 BC)
– Gaul (58–51 BC) and Caesar’s expeditions to Britain

The project does not end with Caesar; further campaigns are planned.
In addition, there are campaigns that focus on Rome's enemies, Gauls, gladiator slaves, Teutons-Cimbri, Iberians, Parthians... the list is long, or internal conflicts such as those after Caesar's death, some fictional, others inspired by true history.

I am considering introducing the Roman calendar system for the campaigns, as suggested by Imeror, which in the case of the First Punic War would be 490 to 513 AUC.

That is one of the advantages of custom campaigns: they are flexible and easy to expand, and factions and units can be adjusted very effectively through the equipment files.
