I’ve watched several of your replays and came to the conclusion that the cavalry needs a bit of toning down, although this will only be addressed in the next update. It wasn’t immediately obvious to me, as I know you enjoy playing with cavalry and tend to favor that playstyle. However, over time it became clear that the balance between infantry and cavalry isn’t quite where it should be yet. As a result, I’ll be making some adjustments to infantry and slightly reducing the effectiveness of cavalry – of course across all factions.

It's up to you, of course, but in my opinion, it's the perfect balance right now. Don't forget that someone might want to play your mod on the field marshal difficulty level. Before the invention of machine guns and cannons, it was the cavalry that was a formidable force. An example of this is the Tatars and Mongols, who were able to reach Europe on horseback, sweeping away everything in their path!

This mission is clear proof of that, see my screenshots and replays ))) I deliberately delayed a little so that the cattle could be evacuated and then sold! Now we are facing a siege of the city, and I have money to buy an elephant. But I probably won't buy it, as I lost a couple of spear throwers and artillerymen. To be continued...

Rome's strength lay in its infantry, its weaponry on the battlefield, and its siege warfare techniques. Perhaps it would suffice to start there and focus on strengthening the infantry in defense. I'll give it some more thought.

It's up to you as the creator of this mod, but infantry is slow and we have a limit on the number of moves. If you give them carts, it will be like a modern motorised infantry unit. Add more moves on foot, and they will resemble marathon runners or cyborgs. But I hope you will resolve this dilemma while my cavalry, on which I am spending my budget for levelling up, brings me quick victories.

No, there will definitely be no transport for the infantry; they'll have to march. I'm thinking more along the lines of increasing the cost of cavalry, slightly reducing their defense stats, and subtly increasing the defense of the infantry, at least the spearmen.

Winter missions in Africa are definitely out of the question. The Romans weren't fans of winter warfare on the European mainland either, especially not against the barbarians in the north. But I'd say, maybe!

Romans remained in the field during winter when it was strategically necessary.
Legions overwintered in fortified camps (hiberna).
From these bases, the following operations were conducted:

Punitive expeditions
Defensive actions
Smaller engagements

Furthermore, during the long wars against the Iberians and later the Celtiberians, winter operations did take place.
Sieges often continued throughout the winter.
Raids, ambushes, and counterattacks were common.
Gaul (later period, but well documented):
Caesar conducted several winter campaigns to suppress uprisings.
Legions marched, fought, and even built fortifications during winter — as mentioned before… possibly!

But I'm playing for Carthage now! Otherwise, I think you'll find a compromise between game balance and realism )))

It was a great and epic battle ) The enemies held their ground, but my upgraded army was stronger ) Now I even have my own war elephant, Ferdinand ))) He's very good at destroying towers and fortresses, which sometimes hold me back and even cause me painful damage ))) Now I need to bring order to my seaports so that they are not disturbed by insolent and daring pirates )))







I defeated all the pirates who landed and their fleet. Excellent mission. There are a couple of deserted islands there where pirate forts could be built so that victory would not be so quick and I would not get bored.









The pirates fought bravely, but we were tougher. In the end, we killed them all! Now it's the Greeks' turn to get their comeuppance!

The naval blockade was successful, even though Greek ships were prowling near the coast. The Greeks were persistent and numerous, but we were able to destroy them. We continue to punish the Greeks!!!









Another Greek stronghold has fallen. We are approaching the final battle! It will most likely be very bloody and epic. Time will tell!

I've been through this whole thing! It was interesting and educational, like reading a history book! I hope there'll be a sequel about Carthage, because I've got a really strong army left over that conquered Africa under my skilful leadership ))) Thanks, Toby, for this mod!

Thank you for giving us an insight into your campaign gameplay. It was very interesting.
In a few days, I will make several standalone scenarios available. After that, I will withdraw for a while and take a short break.

However, the next campaign is already in preparation, and its story will revolve around this man: Brennus. Whether this was a title or his actual name is unclear—but that hardly matters. This leader and his hordes will teach the Romans what fear truly means.

As for Carthage, I can say this much: I am determined to design a follow-up campaign, so make sure to keep your final save safe.
