Thanks for all your help!!
At least I've been able to play the game all the way through and had enjoyment out of it. I get at least some weather effects by restarting the game every few turns.
I already have the icon_winter.png file in the /hud directory. I did try the virtual memory adjustment as suggested on Steam, but that did not work.
I generally like games that have been out at least a couple of years because they are fully-patched and reasonably stable. I do enjoy some of the older hex-based games, and there just aren't a lot out there.

Re: Game crashes to desktop
I have taken a lot of your time with my crash reports, so you are welcome to let me know that you will not follow up with me or ignore this post. The mod is great and I'd like to be able to get it to work properly.
I have come across another crash. I still have ChangeClimate() commented out of the game.lua file. Playing as the Allies, the game crashes to desktop at the end of turn 42. This is the first time I have played this far into the game because I have won as the Allies well before this turn in other play throughs. This play through is really interesting, so I'd like to be able to finish if possible. I feel like I'm on the edge of both winning and losing!
Some events that appear to be about to happen that might cause the crash are: Russia collapsing, UK collapsing, entry of US, or a major event with one of the Central Powers.
I've attached the log file and a screenshot of game stats. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: Game crashes to desktop
I've attached a modified game.lua suitable for use in Potzblitz.
Paste it into:
Commander the Great War\Data\Scripts
overwriting the existing game.lua
Do not comment out ChangeClimate() this time.
Then try again, if there's a crash I need the autosave from before the crash to see if I can continue the game. I'll also need the ctgw.log from after the crash.
Good luck!

Re: Game crashes to desktop
Is this modified game.lua safe to use on the Vanilla (base) version of the game, or is it strictly for the Potzblitz mod?Robotron wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:23 pm I've attached a modified game.lua suitable for use in Potzblitz.Beautifulideas.in

Re: Game crashes to desktop
That specific game.lua from the quoted post is meant for Potzblitz ONLY in case you're experiencing the same problem as described by kenbb99.
Since he never reported back I'm not sure if it fixed the problem but I guess not.
