"In the hour of danger every soldier must fulfill his duty. If Prussia is destined to succumb, we will bear it, but we will certainly succumb fighting to the last man!"

The King of Prussia speaking to his staff officers before marching towards the advancing Saxon hordes

In the direst situation for the realm decisions are quickly made:

1) Requisitions to scrap the last money in the realm
2) Major Fortress in Pomerania to defend the homeland
3) Attack from Pomerania to Brandenburg to regain the lost honour
4) Reinforcements in Pomerania to help the King in battle

We Poles are conservative and stubborn and have leadership based on huge mustaches.

We have always attacked Prussia so we will continue to attack Prussia.

REJOICE

The brave defenders of Denmark have driven the Swede invaders off by a score of 38-50

Neutral observers have noted that the battle was much closer than the score suggests and separated by a few percentage points for several rounds while half of each army were a morale check away from rout. Neither commander opted for finesse or tactics and instead chose to align their respective armies in almost a straight unbroken line for the width of the map and let the boys have at it like rival chimp packs who stumbled upon a cache of beer.

AD 1741
Encounter Battle in Pomerania
Prussian – Saxon 40% - 14%

Saxon tactical victory

The hastily assembled Prussian army, made essentialy of recruits called to confront the fearsome Saxon host, proved no match for the enemy, immediately disintegrating under the rolling musket volleys of a well ordered line of infantrymen, brilliantly led by their valorous commander.

The last hopes of salvation are now placed on the outcome of the campaign that the King is waging in Brandenburg, but the news regarding the battle aren't good ...

Only God can save Prussia now!

Thank you, as part of our officer training program we instruct them in rhetoric when drafting after action reports. Our Royal Sovereign likes to read these to the princes and princesses around the fire place during Advent. It is a House of Oldenburg tradition.

There has been a great Polish victory over the Prussians in their heartland of Prussia.

Instead of deploying in a line across the entire battlefield as in previous battles the Prussians got very clever and deployed almost their entire force on the large hill on their right, with their main artillery batteries behind some rough going to the left of that near the baseline with several units to protect them.
The Poles advanced on the hill and having light artillery and units in depth and outflanking them steadily weakened the hill while their light horse backed by Pancerni raced to envelop the units protecting the guns and eventually charged the guns in the rear. The Prussians advanced from the hill but the stationary Polish units devastated them.

The final result of 50% to 33% would be a tactical victory but the fortress reduces it to a marginal, so the Poles withdrew in good order having restored the Glory of Poland.

Due to Prussia's recent defeats, young Prince Frederick has fallen into a more melancholy than usual.

These are just rumors, but the Prussian Marshal Lysimachos is already rushing to sadly announce the depressing news.

AD 1741
Encounter Battle in Brandenburg
Prussian – Saxon 48% - 26%

Saxon tactical victory

Having reached the heights near his beloved Berlin, the King of Prussia, eager to reconquer it, threw his usual prudence to the wind and launched his troops into a frenzied attack against the well-equipped Saxon lines which, after having bombarded the advancing enemy with lethal fire, repelled him inflicting serious losses.

Now he has taken refuge in the winter quarters to meditate on the changing fate of human people, exchanging hundreds of letters with his friend Voltaire, who is at pains to invite him not to despair!
