Issues with Steam Workshop Mods

Post by VendettaV »

Came back to play around again in PC2 after taking break for a few years, got all the new DLC and stuff for it. But I’m having some difficulties with getting mods from the Steam workshop to work for me.

I downloaded a couple of scenarios and campaigns (Operation Galvanic and the Vichy French one) and the Unit Rebalance Overhaul. The balance mod is one that I played with in the past and I recall it working back then (it did things like make the light AA provide fire support against infantry instead of tanks, and gave tactical bombers like the Bf 110 a switch mode for use as fighters).

However, the mod still shows up in the mod manager but doesn’t seem to do anything when it’s enabled. So perhaps the mod simply hasn’t been updated to work with the newest version of the game.

However, when I went looking through the folders to try and find the mod’s data, I couldn’t find them. I understand Panzer Corps 2 has two folder locations, one in Steam where the base game files reside, and one in Documents where it sends your save games and custom scenarios. And from what I understand, mods you download should be showing up in that Documents folder. However, I can’t find them there or in the Steam one. So where it’s actually sending them when I hit subscribe is a mystery. Is there a third location I don’t know about?

On the other hand, the scenarios actually worked. I tested played both of them, they launch and run without issue. The Vichy French one has one problem, however; according to the mod description, there should be more purchasable units added to the Vichy roster, but within the game, I still only had access to the default units: Vichy militia, Potez 631, and DB-7, nothing else.

So it looks like one of the changes in the recent updates might have broken any mods that make changes to the Units file and prevented them from taking effect.

Can anyone tell me
A) Where my computer might be hiding those mod files
B) If there are any known workarounds to allow those mods to changes the Units file as intended
C) Assuming you do get them to work, should those new and altered units from the mods be available in the Scenario Editor as well, or are there additional steps required for that?
