Match 6

Re: WTC25 ROUND 5 RESULTS (OPEN)
Match 5 Period 4a
Solemnace's English defeat mcfcivo's Castillians 51-22.
The English initially held a defensive position before attacking out towards the Castillian Crossbowmen and knights. English men at arms on the left largely triumphed over the Castillian knigths but on the right were broken down by cannons, bolts and knightly charges exposing the English Longbowmen. The English stood firm long enough for English Men at arms to run down enough of the Spanish army to give victory to England.
THe other match is taking a little longer so I'll just post the one for now.

Match 6
P2a
Enry1977 Indian beats Ironclad Indo Greek 62-55
Another great battle to the last man.
Heroes for Indians were crew of two artilleries that tear apart enemy cavalries on my right flank. They were later overrun but they shots were very effective and gave me cavalries superiority that make the difference in the end.
Thanks to Ironclad for fast turns!

Game 4 Period 4b
Solemnace's Castillians defeat Mcfcivo's English 58-32.
The Castillians held back only counter attacking as the English drew near. The long line of English Longbowmen had little answer for the Castillian spears and the English foot Men at arms were largely contained from doing too much damage. Castillian light foot and horse Drew off numerous Longbowmen on the far left while eventually the English left and centre crumbled under sustained pressure from Castillian troops.
Good game.

Re: WTC25 ROUND 5 RESULTS (OPEN)
Game 1
Period 3
On a rather open landscape except for a small steep and difficult hill exactly in the center of the map...
P3A
rafydedel (Arab conquest) defeats Morat (Sassanid): 51-17
Arab kept a tight formation of spearmen and cavalry and progressed on both sides of the hill and received storm of arrows from mounted archers. Medium troops, bowmen and lights were disputing the hill to persian Dailami and lights.
When the arab line of veteran spearmen reached the level of enemy troop on the hill, Sassanid launch an attack to overwhelm them with number.
Fortunalety, Arab veteran held the line despite some of them being flanked. Sassanid infantry was no match against them, Arab could conquier the hill who was now poorly defended.
P3B:
rafydedel (Sassanid) defeats Morat (Arab Conquest):54-26
Both armies rushed to dispute the hill. Sassanid had a strong force of medium troop to take it, but good adverse shooting and poor cohesion test led most of it to be quickly routed, and my morale to its lowest point.
Meanwhile, Arab advanced all their spearmen on one side of the hill, leaving the other side to their cavalry. My army avoided contact with veteran spearmen in the center as much it could but still kept them busy, my cavalry did a good job on the aisles and was able to destroy the Arab cavalry wing with horse archers and elephants. Fights on the hill improved and my last dailami finally did its job to claim its title of king of the hill.
Both games were balanced until a small bit of luck set it in motion against Morat, which I thank for two greats games and a good chat (the "cricket ashes" part remain to be continued for more clarification
).
This is my last game, thanks to Triarii for his stewardship for this edition, and I am looking forward for 2026 edition.

Match 5 Period 3a
GDod (Arab) defeated egmont (Persian) 46/12
The arab spearmen dealt their usual "hard to stop" attacks on the inferior Persian infantry. Maximising these superior spearmen made the job very hard for the Persians. Thanks for the game egmont.

Match 1 Game 4a
CaptainWalterSavage Castillian defeats Cherebuschka English 41: 14
The score does not reflect the knife edge battle that was fought. The two armies faced each other across a steep valley. Both sides shot each other with arrows and bolts and all sorts of artillery. Eventually the English rushed across the valley and started smashing up the Castillians. It was looking fairly grim for the Iberians but somehow they won enough minor encounters to add up to a winning score. I had to take some big chances and enough paid off to clinch an unlikely victory. I expect this to be my last report as Cherebuschka has me on the backfoot in the other game. An excellent couple of battles - A great way to end the competition.

Match 1 Game 4b
Cherebuschka Castillian defeats CaptainWalterSavage 61-45
This one reflect the hard battle that was fought !
Unlike the other game where we faced from the start and hurled cannon ball and arrow quite early, in this one we manoeuvered for a fair bit. Oddly enough, we both sent our archers to face each other on one side and melee on the other. The fight lasted long with many breaking from the automatic loss threshold.
And I must show respect to the single english artillery crew who, almost alone, routed two knights during this battle with their well placed shots.
Like CaptainWalterSavage say, great last battles to end the tournament.

The Veteran Muslim spears and lancers were able to win the in open on their center and left while holding out on their right.
Match 2 Period 3b
Rosedelio (Sassanid) defeats Galou (Arab) 65-40
Thanks to the rough ground, the Sassanids were able to delay the onslaught of the Muslim spears until the horse archers helped to shoot and flank them.
