klayeckles (kyrenean) defeats markleslie (mac) 45 to 11
The cretan archers prove their mettle in a fight for a difficult hill...holding off multiple mac units until the kyrenean MF could gain the upper hand.

Klay eckles (mac) defeats markleslie (kyrenean) 60 to 34
A lesson in the value of skirmishers...mac LF helped dominate a difficult hill, and then while both armies occupied high ground in something of a standoff, the mac LF flanked the kyreneans and rained down death until the holes were too big.

klayeckles (mac) defeats Garokan (thracian) 43 to 5
again, missile fire dominated the high ground, leading to an advantage that couldn't be overcome.

Turn 2.
A hill fight it is then, thankfully the stream was just a stream.


Turn 17, the end.
Yeah, pretty much everyone died and those that survived will not be walking right again for some time.

Turn 3.
Trying to keep 'em guessing for as long as possible.


Turn 15.
The Babylonian right flank is smashed and the centre, after a long struggle, collapses and the Egyptians take the hill.


Another long grindy 17 turn game, fortunately the Babylonian right flank routed their opposites and turned on the centre to overwhelm the ragged Egyptians there, copping it from all directions.

To my opponent, two very hard games that swung back and forth throughout.

Div E
Vakarr with Triballi Thracians defeated Frederic02 with Bruttians/Lucanians 8%-60%
The Italians thought they were Romans in disguise but the warbands smashed through them anyway, despite having to push the Italians off the high ground. Also helped that the Thracian spearmen had better combat factors than the ordinary Italian swordsmen. The same is happening in the mirror game, where the Italians are being worn down by the warbands, but that game continues.

SgtOgre (Partians) defeats zhuangcheng (Romans) 67-46

Parthians and Romans are always a fun match and tough. Great , fun game. The mirror match may also go to the Parthians, but is close.

klayeckles (thracian) defeats Garokan (mac) 61 to 55
a nail biter with the Mac phalynx going into square early while war bands charged. the pike fought hard until the bitter end, when the warbands finally knocked them off the hill and gained the height advantage.

Division E
Vakarr with Romans defeats Rockmanbob123 with Triballi Thracians 6-41

Another battle showing how the rules are skewed in the favour of the wascally Woemans. The Roman legionaries were basically able to ignore the terrain; there was nowhere for the Thracians to hide. The Thracians tried using the maximum light horse with bow but despite roaming around in the Roman flanks and rear there was sufficient terrain and Roman light troops/bowmen/cavalry to stymie the flank march.

GDod Seleucid defeats DIVM Ptolemaic 43 to 11

A case of the Ptolemaic left wing arriving too late. Thanks for the challenging game.

Turn 2.
Well that's a pretty stacked flank, time to get shufflin.


The Lybians proceeded to occupy the rough immediately to their front while most of the their force made a B line for the enclosed fields and then just kept on going and going and going.

Not sure what I expected but that wasn't it.


Back and forth, back and forth, but again, eventually, making a B line for the same eclosed fields.

Unfortunately due to time constraints the grand maneuvers of the Egyptian army had to be cut short to ensure a result.

Indo-Greeks vs Graeco- Bactrians. Indo-Greeks win both games.
In two very close games played out enormously differently:-

Nijis with Indo-Greeks defeats Triarii's Graeco-Bactrians 63-47.

while

Triarii with Indo-Greeks defeats Nijis Graeco-Bactrians 61-39.

Many thanks to Nijis for yet another pair of very close games.

Division B

Triarii with Indian Rajput defeats Chris Townsend with Arab (Abbasid) 47-9.

The well intended Arab cavalry flanking forces were delayed by rough ground on their right and ambushed on their left. The delays allowed Rajput archers and massed elephants to shoot, dismay and trample the centre of Arab spears.

Division B

Triarii with Arab (Abbasid) defeats Chris Townsend with Indian Rajput 66-26.

The Rajputs faced with Arabs massed on their left fell back to a central hill.
Unfortunately the broken ground leading to the hill and raw Arab spearmen were enough to stop a Rajput cavalry reach around and allowed the bow heavy Arabs (with dismounted Ghilman) to shoot their a way onto the hill. Pretty even to that point but when Dialami and spears reached and wrought havoc amongst the Indian bowmen the Indian force dissolved quickly.

Also as a last result many thanks to Tyrone for another enjoyable tournament.

Vakarr (Triballi Thracians) defeats Rockmanbob123 (Romans) 46-62
A great clash where the Thracians were constantly fighting at the disadvantage but the picked warband won through with the addition of some hills. The Thracians refused to hide in the woods and steep hills and boldly attacked the Romans, achieving a local superiority in numbers. On the last turn, the Thracians had run out of easy targets with the Romans better organised and at 58% and the Praetorians and other legionaries were still fighting so it looked like the Romans might stage a last minute recovery but a legionary unit that had been attacked in a last desperate attempt auto-broke for the win. Thanks for a great game, the result was always in doubt!
