How to move AA Gun under enemy aircraft

Post by Applepie68 »

How does one move an AA gun so it is under the enemy aircraft? It keeps prompting me to attack the aircraft.

There was somewhere/somewhen a recommendation to carefully move the cursor around the edge of the target hexagon, I can't remember by whom.
That didn't work reliably for me. I was able to do it in one occasion in the US Pacific Pearl Harbor scenario when I had an AA gun on the road (which allowed four tiles of movement) and the JP aircraft was three (road) tiles away i.e. outside the normal range of the gun. My hypothesis is that the collision box of the combat prediction is too large.
On a separate occasion during the Burma Road campaign I was able to use the multiple-turn movement order in a way that the AA gun stopped under the JP aircraft in the first turn. I fully admit that that is a finicky workaround which won't work in every situation.
Hope this helps.

RIGHT-CLICK on the hexagon you want to go on.

CTRL+RIGHT-CLICK forced movement towards the hexagon you want to go on :!:

PS: corrected images following a confusion between right and left click :?

Sorry, Terminator, but that's NOT:

a) what the manual describes as the functions for the two-button mouse (and there's no change thereof in the update log);

b) how it behaves on my copy of the game.

What I'm experiencing, as per the manual, is that:

1) LEFT-click selects (and if repeated, de-selects) a unit or terrain;

2) RIGHT-click issues an order for either movement (empty hex) or fire/combat (enemy unit). CTRL-RIGHT-click activates "long-range movement" and thus allows an AA-gun to move under an enemy aircraft because fire/combat orders don't have a CTRL (or SHIFT) "prefix".

I don't know how you can use the left-click to issue movement orders. Could it be some mod? Some special mouse? Or maybe just confusion on your part?

It's not about right click or left click in my game.

It's ctrl+move

I made a mistake because in reality I didn’t use the mouse but the Touchpad of my laptop :?

Very nice screenshots though :-D
You should make some youtube guide for order of battle or something. There are so many things that are not explained in the tutorial
