Panzer Corps Lite delisted from iOS app store

Post by Sephiroth »

Hi,

the Panzer Corps Lite got delisted from iOS app store, which got it deleted from my ipad after it updated. I contacted apple support and they told me to contact you. It seems it got delisted due to not being updated in long time. Can you please do something about it, it is not ok for app which costed 100 EUR to just disappear from mu device.

We agree! But Apple decided not to support 32 bit apps at all, and we were not in a position to do the work necessary to upgrade the app to x64.

If you still have your old iPad then the game will continue working, and should be available to you to download. But newer iPads simply won't run 32 bit apps at all.

Sorry.

Cheers

Hi,
thank you for a fast response! I do have an old ipad but the problem is that I cannot download the app as I cannot see it anywhere, either in app store or in list of my apps. It just got deleted after I updated the ipad. Icon remained but when I click it this happens:

I have an iPad 10th generation, currently running iPadOS version 18.6.2. After reading this, I took it out and checked that Panzer General still works, and it does. Your post has me a bit concerned... are you suggesting that when my iPad next gets updated, Panzer Corps will be deleted? Is that what happened to you?

Well I suspect that app is de-listed for some time now, because couple of moths ago when I tried to buy one DLC the button was just spinning. I am not sure why the update deleted the app, but I guess result would be same if I deleted it myself or tried to install in on another device. Same spinning on DLC page happened in 2023, and it came back in 2024, so if you could do whatever you did then it would be great. Really want to finish GC East, was at the end of 43...

I bought my iPad in March 2024, and Panzer Corps Gold from the App Store a few days later. It installed fine and has worked ever since, although I haven't played it for a while. I tried it yesterday and it was still okay. However, my iPad is asking me to do an update, and after your message I'm a bit wary of installing! So I don't know...

In theory they should never prevent you from downloading an app that you have purchased, provided the game works on your device.

I'll get someone to check here.

I can not longer upload Panzer Corp (and I could a couple months ago). I agree though, an app that you have purchased should always be available to re-upload.

I deleted mine a couple times in September 2025 and then re installed it. It was working fine even on a 13” iPad Pro running iPad OS 26. I deleted it just to get a clean version. Dumb me did it a third time and I can’t get it back. Called Slitherine about it and they can’t do anything because of Apple. Oh well.

Had Panzer Corps 2 with some DLCs laying around so I’m using those now. Ended up buying a 16” M4 MBP for about $2000 to run it. Download parallels and had a Windows 11 Pro license from before so I’m just using that now. Didn’t really want just a Windows laptop by itself.

Thanks for the information. I'll not delete the one from my iPad. Terrible service from Apple for people (like me) who paid full price for Panzer Corps Gold. It should be available for ever for those of us who have handed money over. Hopefully Slitherine can put some pressure on.

Personally, no disrespect intended, but I don’t think Apple cares as long as the money is coming in. I had the regular Panzer Corps not the gold plus all the DLCs. Now I see the Gold version for Windows for less than $10. Don’t know if I’ll get it or not. Still trying to get re used to Panzer Corps 2.

Sadly, I think you're right about Apple, although to be fair, they're no different to any big company.

And Panzer Corps Gold for $10 is amazing. I had all the DLCs but still bought the Gold version when it was on offer years ago (for £27, I think, still a bargain) for the convenience.

Well I contacted Apple first and they told me to contact Slitherine...
I do own Pz Corps Gold on PC but vastly prefer to play it on my Ipad. Even playing on Surface Pro is not comparable experience as the Ipad version is truly optimized for touch.

I bought and downloaded Panzer Corps Gold yesterday. Got it for $7.50. Had to play around with the resolution some. Even though the screen on the 16” M4 MacBook Pro is amazing, it still doesn’t compare to my 13” M4 iPad Pro.

I don’t have the panzer corps on iPad no more to compare, but it doesn’t look as good as the iPad screen did. Even panzer corps 2 looks better on the Mac then the first one does.

I’m running the Panzer Corps Gold & 2 on Mac through parallels and Windows 11.

Well it is more about expectation that if I buy something I would be able to use it. I know it is an old game, but I bought Soviet Corps less than 2 years ago and haven't had chance to play it. And it was very steep price, 18 EUR for that DLC alone. I mean if this is allowed to happen, what guarantees are there that PZC 2 won't disappear from steam suddenly?

To Pipfromslitherine:

Here is some additional information that will hopefully help the situation. Your user community needs help, and hopefully you and your company can assist.

I bought a new iPad last week around Dec. 3. Like many folks, when you have old tech, eventually you need to refresh it. After a half hour of setting the new one up, I tried a few aps, one of which was Panzer Corps Gold (icon says "Lite", and when looking up the purchase history I see Panzer Corps - Gold, and underneath Panzer Corps Lite), and I received the same error as described above (post #3, Sephiroth). At this point, the iPad was setup, and a call was scheduled with Main Apple Support by phone the next day.

Next day, near the appointed time, I received a call from Apple. The analyst had me work through a few things, among them looking up the date of the purchase / download. I was sent up to next level support, and a few hours later I received a call from Felicia. My case number is 102767977726. She did some research and found the following:

- The app is still in the App Store, but it is not purchasable.
- It is also flagged as "not downloadable".

She told me she would call back the next day while she ran down a few things. The next day, she came back saying nothing more could be done because of the way the app is in the Apple app store. This is clearly not the answer anyone wants to hear, given the app was $79.99 plus tax. To put that into perspective (bearing in mind the we are talking 2017 dollars), this app is probably (adjusted for inflation) 40-50% of the cost of my new iPad.

To me, having worked in Tech Support customer service with CME Group for 24+ years before I retired, the simple solution is one of the following:

-Slitherine calls Apple, adjusts the tag on the app so it can be downloaded again (but not purchased anew), and anyone that owns the app can then test it and see if it works. If it does, great and you look like heroes. If it doesn't, we are no better off than we are now, but at least the company that owns the app made a good faith attempt.

-Assuming this doesn't work, offer some sort of credit to the customers that faithfully supported your company by purchasing the app in the first place. From there, those of us that still want the app can get it off Steam and put it on our laptops (not as handy as an iPad but close), and we can continue enjoying the game.

-Failing that, Slitherine gets the app back from Apple, and hosts it on their portal, for customers to either purchase anew or download onto their iPads, free of Apple's interference. As long as it works, Apple doesn't need to worry about your 32-bit app working on their 64-bit tablet.

There is no reason the app shouldn't still work on an iPad. Most (all?) of us have 32-bit apps running on 64-bit PCs, and while we may have to go through some rigmarole to get things working, we do this because WE ENJOY THE GAME or APP we are using. I can understand Apple not liking a 32-bit app, but if you host it they can't control whether or not it is running on the iPad.

Thank you for your continued diligence on solving this issue. If you need any further information, please email me at the address associated with my Username.

Unfortunately it is not as simple as us hosting it ourselves.

+ Apple doesn't allow sideloading in any real way. It's appstore or nothing.
+ 32bit apps just will not (can not) run on 64bit Apple hardware (almost any iOS device in the last 10 years or so). I agree the modern PCs have no issues emulating, Apple does not care.

Also, we did not change any flag or the like to prevent apps from being downloaded (why would we). We are still trying to work out what has caused this, and whether it affects all the apps that we publish, is just a glitch etc. We do not have any batphone number into Apple, much as we would like it.

I appreciate that this isn't going to make you happy. We're not happy about it either, especially not knowing why this has happened. We are working to try and figure it out, but it's harder because we need older devices and non-developer purchases of the games way back in the day so that we can try and verify what is happening to our customers.

Cheers
