Nijis (Seleucids) defeats Kroche (Indo-Greek) 47-18.

The Indo-Greeks seized a strategic hill in the center of the battle, as the Seleucid medium infantry advanced obliquely to secure the jungle on their right flank. As the phalanxes moved past the Indo-Greek position they came under arrow fire, then were engaged by elephants, other phalanxes and cavalry. The superior numbers of the Seleucid phalangites, stiffened by their veterans, managed to beat back the assault despite their adversaries' position advantage.

Despite an early setback with horse archers getting caught on pursuit, enough infantry and horse archers survived to flank and grind down the mostly cav Khazar army.

Bagatrix defeated Vakarr in an other classic struggle Thracians against Greeks , 63 points to 47. It went to the wire, both sides getting rallies and fighting all over the battlefield, it was as was the other a great game, I tip my hat to Vakarr, we had great games and some good banter also an absolute pleasure .

Another victory for the Dabuyids, who would have thought. A very close affair as the score indicates. Great game, cheers.

Kroche (Makkan 890-313BC) defeats Chris Townsend (Assyrian 681-609BC) 66-39

Makkan forces, helped by enclosures, held against a strong Assyrian attack in the centre. Combined camel and infantry Makkan left wing defeated the Assyrian mobile wing and could then aid their centre. Assyrian left wing held a ridge line and defeated the Makkan attack, but their other forces were routed before they could move in force to support. GG

Div B. Nijis off to a very strong start.
Div C. GDod, DIVM and IMC strongest so far.
Div D. Strong starts from Angus, klayeckles and Mark
Div E. A lot of close battles, could be anyone's.
Div F. batesmotel is well placed for top spot, close for 2nd place.
Div G. Looks to be between mcfcivo, Indibil & SgtOgre (who is best placed).

Aetius (Persians) defeats LuciusSulla (Thracians) 60-41

Persians got the upper hand in the end, but with some luck with their arrows and a few other things. GG thanks for playing!

Div B:

Kroche (Seleucids) defeats Nijis (Indo-Greek) 63-49.

Seleucids again pushed to take the central hill, but were met on the lower slopes by the Indo Greeks and melee ensued. Seleucid kept moving left wing forward and were put in trouble by a cavalry ambush just as they engaged the Indo Greek flank. Seleucids were able to win in the centre - helped by cataphracts holding the right flank under intense pressure. Indo Greek cavalry was largely intact at the end, but defeating the infantry was just enough to secure the win for Seleucids. GG.

Division B

Chris Townsend's Makkan 890 defeats Kroche's Assyrian 681 62 to 51.

It was a tale of two flanks, with the Makkan left flank or camels and skirmishers dominating the Assyrian medium and light cavalry, while the Makkan left, with similar forces, were destroyed by the Assyrian spearmen and archers. In the centre, the Makkan close infantry managed to just hold on long enough in the enclosure for a combination of skirmishers and reinforcing irregulars to stop a bypassing movement lead by foot guard and chariots.

Interestingly, the simple Makkan forces (only six units types) did well in both sides of the mirror.

Div D

Karvon's Macedonians defeated angusosborne's Thessalians 62-42.

While Macedonian attempt to flank on our left with horse and lights was well-delayed by a few foot supporting their horse, our medium foot, supported by some pike flanked enemy foot defending a ridge and, after a hard fight, collapsed enough of enemy to pull off a win as dusk fell.
