I once read a Western novel where a cavalry scout was forced to knife-fight an Indian warrior after their left hands were tied together with a leather thong. The scout ultimately won, but he almost bled to death as a result of his wounds. This battle was a lot like that, and I needed a last-second rally of a unit from routed to fragmented to win.

The Thracians were able to avoid heavy losses on the initial arrow barrages, and once in melee broke down the Persians; a nice Thracian cavalry charge, break, and several proceeding flanks sealed it. GG!

Bagatrix defeated Vakarr in a classic struggle Greeks against Thracian, 60 points to 57. It was a great game that went down to the final turns luckily for the Greeks there was a river that ensured the LC could go no further and were caught out .
A real gent of an opponent and I hope to play more against him in the future.

vakarr (Elamite) defeats Jaerho (Egyptian) 51-63
A classic battle of spears vs swords. The two armies were evenly matched and it took a long time to move due to the huge size of the armies and the complete lack of cavalry. It looked like the Egyptians would win as the Elamites had weighted their right flank only to find it unopposed. The Elamite battle cars charged up the hill and were held there turn after turn by disrupted or worse condition medium infantry. Finally the Elamite right wing arrived but even then had to fight their way through the enclosures. A really hard struggle that went down to the wire.

In a battle that was almost purely infantry, the Anglo-Saxons were more formidable.
