Slow video performance

Post by crawdaddyo »

I recently bought a PC to replace my ancient laptop. The new PC is running a NVIDIA GEForce GT610 adapter. I installed Steam and launched the game but the video performance is worse than my old laptop. Anybody know if the problem is Steam or if I need to tweak some settings?

That's because the card in use in more than likely worse than the chip in your old laptop and is a card used for mainly office apps and not a gaming card, and without 2gb of dedicated vram is below the minimum spec of the game, same as the card tbh.

And a new PC? As the card dates back to 2012?

Ok, that makes sense. I'm not very knowledgeable about equipment. I guess that I got suckered into buying an old video card on Amazon. Thank you for pointing this out. I appreciate it.

your welcome, regarding video cards and it's just about the same with CPU' etc,.

you do get what you pay for, so pay more tends to get a better gaming products, pay less, and the performance normally drops off the same.

most games offer a minimum and recommend spec level for the game given,

that gives you the knowledge to go out and get what is needed to run the game at a half decent level on the games settings, but that's about it, what works well for one game doesn't always pan out the same for something else, as game engines differ quite a bit, with some being better than others regarding performance etc or the needs for less or more hardware.

if you need to know anything about gaming setups, recommended parts etc, as on the game forums for a given game, and nearly always there is someone around who will given a opinion on a given setup that works, regarding hardware, software etc and general setup, as we are all gamers

Code: Select all

i picked the guide,. but tbh it's doesn't have to be a intel chip either, AMD works the same or some chips are better and faster etc, so it's to there own on opinion on that subject, as which ones better is like commenting on falling leaves, with each one being slightly different and each one has it's charms and downfalls etc
