Nearly 10 years after the first version, the mod is still updated 8)
That's what we call "dedication".

We can now speculate about the upcoming news

Hello guys!
I have an important announcement to make regarding the future of Modern Conflicts.
First: from today onward, the mod development is officially over. This means that I will not work on the mod anymore. It has been a fun experience for these last 9 years, but recently I felt that I needed to step up the project.

So, I am very excited to announce that Modern Conflicts is evolving into an independent GAME. No more mod, but an stand alone game on its own :)
Yup, quite ambitious maybe, but right now I am motivated to move down this path.

Secondly: I invite you all to visit and join the Modern Conflicts Forum:

https://modernconflicts.freeforums.net/
You will find me as Stormbringer (my proper nickname, Akkula was a silly one from the past).

There, you will find everything related to the Modern Conflicts project.

See you there guys.

Best regards,
Akkula (Stormbringer)

It was an "Exciting news", indeed !
Modern Conflicts was too big to just stay a mod

I guess that start a full game will allow you to bypass some problem with Panzer Corps : like the limit of nations or add new unit types.

I have a few questions before switching to the dedicated forum :
- Since you start a whole new game : will previous campaigns already already in your mod will be "port" to be playable again or will we have only "fresh" content ?
- I fear to already know the answer, but there will be a way to port custom scenarios or campaigns into the new scenario editor ?

I'll follow you into this new adventure

Most likely it will not be a separate game, but Modern Conflicts Standalone Mod sewn into the game itself ) Unless of course our master has learnt to reprogram games and hack their engines )

On Stormbringer announcement post, I see something like "I can tell you that at the moment I working on the game's core and terrain graphics" or "a completely new game from scratch"... Quotes that may me think that its not just a standalone mod but a totally different game that will just reuse some assets that already exist.

I'll need to think how to link my custom campaigns between two different games now, it's going to be a real mess for me
I'm not complaining, of course  On the contrary, I can't wait to see what's new in the game. If it is, as I understand it, an independent game, I'm sure there will be plenty of new mechanics that Panzer Corps doesn't allow.

I hope we will have something playable in 2026 !

For example, fronts and capture of territories as it is Order of Battle - World War II ) Well, as they say, we'll live - we'll see )

I don't want to sound boring, but if the mod uses mechanics from Slitherine, won't the publisher block the development of the mod as a separate game?
