Questions for my first AO attempts
Hi there
I'm starting the Spanish Campaign, and had a bonus unit in the last mission, the Verdeja 2 tank.
I'm now in the next brieffing, but i can't see how many Verdeja 2 equipment i have. I can repare the unit and overpower it, so i think i have some, but as i'm playing in limited stock, i'm wondering if it's "unlimited" because it's a bonus unit, or if it has a limitation, and if yes, where to see it.
Thanks !

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
It's a "gift" unit which means it has unlimited replacements. You do have to pay for them, but that's what makes gift units to valuable, especially if you're playing limited stock. Another example of this is the Russian bomber you can get in the Warsaw scenario in AO1939.Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Wed Sep 17, 2025 7:10 pm Hi there

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
Thanks for the reply.
I have the game since many years, but never really played it, as i struggle to like it as musch as i love playing Panzercorp 1. Though, i don't know why, this atempt seems to be the good one ^^.
I'm playing with Limited Stock (10), which make the game just hard enough for me, as i have many problems to deal with enemy aircraft without all my precious fighters.
This "bonus" unit will be for sure very valuable in my situation.

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
After I got used to the changes in PC2, I have never gone back and played PC1. In fact, I don't even have it installed. The same thing happened to me after Panzer General 2 released; I never played PG1 again.Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Thu Sep 18, 2025 11:47 am Thanks for the reply.

There are many different tactics for succeeding in this game, and many on this forum that would be happy to give advice if you ask for specific help/suggestions. I can't address any of those because I don't know why you like PC1 (which I LOVED!) more so I can't offer much specific advice to enhance your enjoyment of this rendition.

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
A bit off topic cuz it's not about the Verdeja tank, but the main thing that kept me away from PC2 is the 3D graphics. PC1 2D was way more clear and CPU/GPU efficient. The game is often hard to read during the battle. To many things everywhere.
But one thing always bring me again and again to the game (since it appears, because it was not in the first release): "Limited Stock". It's strange but i really like the idea to manage an army with limited materials. But, each campaign start was never more than 2-3 missions before leaving the game for another 1 year.
But i've found quite the perfect balance for now i think, and i'm restarting again SCW, but i'm further than i've never been. (lol, maybe 5 missions). I play with Limited stock (10), wich is very challenging for me, but just enough to be challenging and not frustrating. I also add European Budget (not sure of the name though) to have less prestige. Then i add myself 2 more general point to compensate, and play with Master of Blitzkrieg, Perimeter Control, Trophies of War, Deadly Grasp, Flexible Command and Old Guard as positives, and Slow Modernisation and Inefficient Supply as negatives. It's a lot of modification but seems to be a good starting point for me.

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
That's what's great about the game; there are loads of ways to customize it for one's style of play. Many of us could think of a few more things that we wish they would do, but still. What I don't like about Limited stock is that it applies equally for all units. I don't agree with that. I think that shouldn't apply to infantry units. But to each there own!Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 9:32 pm A bit off topic cuz it's not about the Verdeja tank, but the main thing that kept me away from PC2 is the 3D graphics. Limited Stock is a very nice feature, but in SCW not that important, since you should heavily rely on allied equipment (tanks, recon, arty).Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Mon Sep 22, 2025 9:32 pm But i've found quite the perfect balance for now i think, and i'm restarting again SCW, but i'm further than i've never been. You have picked a lot of general traits. Imo you should start with a more standard configuration, its changing the game a lot. But if its fine for you just go ahead.
I also started with PC2 and tried PC1 later. Was unplayable for me, I did not even finish one map.

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
Yes. I'm using a lot of captured unit, since Trophies of War give me a lot. The main problem i have is the air spperiority with my limited stock (wich is cool). Quite all my fresh 10 fighter dies( and my 10 italian to) in air combat each battle, wich means i struggle a lot to stay in touch with enemy airforce increase. I try to use AA guns to soften them up and save some fighter but i'm not sure to be good at that.DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 11:39 am Limited Stock is a very nice feature, but in SCW not that important, since you should heavily rely on allied equipment (tanks, recon, arty).

Deadly Grasp, Perimeter Control and Flexible Command change a lot the game i think. But it's so much fun to try to capture as much unit as i can ^^. I may play another walkthought with more neutral traits. What do you thing about Operational Initiative + Terrain Expert ? I would play this with Limited Stock (20) (less hard, but i love too much to play with) and Old Guard (Just because i hate to lose a unit).

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
I just received a Panzer IIA in a scenario, and i cant repair it and have no stock visible. Is it also a special unit, or is it just because it's something like a prototype with hidden stock ?

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
The Panzer II in SCW should be the same kind of unit like the Verdeja, that means you should have an unlimited stock.Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Mon Sep 29, 2025 12:33 pm I just received a Panzer IIA in a scenario, and i cant repair it and have no stock visible. Well, both traits are like a small booster for your army. If you have points to spend, you wont do anything wrong with it.Ainkatsiss wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 2:14 pm What do you thing about Operational Initiative + Terrain Expert ? Old Guard for 1 Point ist overpowered as hell, but imo you can easily play around that trait in SCW, 1939, 1940.
If you lose something in SCW its no big problem, the units wont have a lot of experience. Green units will work.
And since the enemy units are not that strong its harder for them to kill some of your stuff. Most of the time you should have the chance to escape and repair. Later in the war, when the AI has >2 stars they can easily kill your units from 10 to 0, so old guard is always a nice pick.

Re: Verdeja 2 tank and limited stock
I've started a new SCW campaign with my "neutral" setup. Missions are a bit less difficult, thought i struggle to finish every bonus objectives in time on some map.
Splitting unit and trying to maximize my captures (to deal with with limited stock (10) in my other setup) leads me to some very bad positions, while the more neutral setup is more strait forward.
I had some trouble with italian infantry in my limited (20) campaign, i can't imagine how i will deal with this in my limited (10) atempt.
