WTC25 FIRST ROUND DRAW AND FIRST ROUND MATCHES (9TH/10th SEPTEMBER)

There are 16 Confirmed Teams for WTC25 - see viewtopic.php?t=118244 - that will be drawn to determine the eight first round matches.

Slitherine will draw the first round matches for WTC25 on 9th September at 17:00 CEST. Slitherine invite you to join them live on the official Slitherine Twitch channel for the draw.

The draw, the matched teams and the four games (one for each period) in each of the eight matches will be posted by 21:00 UCT on 9th September on this forum in a thread for notifying challenges.
Challenges may be posted, and accepted immediately, in the challenge thread.

Please note that Round 1 officially starts at 00:00 UCT on 10th September (slow play rules apply from that time) and will finish at 24:00 UCT on 28th September.

A reminder to new players - games are not set up by Slitherine but must be set up by one of the involved players using the multi-player lobby and putting a note in the Round 1 challenge thread on the forum with a supporting Slitherine Private Message (PM). Also; Individual game results are expected to be posted by the winning player (or in case of a draw player with least points loss) in the Round's results thread on the forum

The dedicated results thread for round 1 will open on 11th September.

I've read the rules and as a player that has never played in a tournament I'm curious about a few things:

- The games are said to be mirror matches, does this mean we'll play one game with one army and then a second game against the same opponent with the opponents army and vice versa?

- I'm supposed to post a challenge to my opponent on a challenge thread but I can't find it anywhere. Does it exist yet or is it yet to be created?

When you set up there is an option for ‘mirror’. Yes, you play with both armies against your opponent.

It says that games start tomorrow (Sept 10th). This was just the draw.

Yes mirror matches are set up by placing a tick in that box when you post a challenge.
The draw for the first round has just been completed.
The challenge thread is just being posted now.

Hopefully this guide (below) will help you and other players new to community tournaments.

You are in period 4 so your Round 1 game is vs Cherebuschka of Furor Gallico and will be Austrian 1200-1319 AD vs Italian (Ghibelline) 1200-1319 AD on Map Type Mediterranean Agricultural - Medium Open Battle - Mirror Challenge.

So go to the Multiplayer screens and work through the tabs thus:-
Multiplayer > My Challenges > New Challenge > Create Challenge

You will see the screen for creating a skirmish that you would populate like this


Once you have set the correct options for
Army A, Army B, Scenario, Force Size, Map Size and Map Type select the "Create" button.

You will then see the screen below and would populate it like this
1) Tick mirror challenge (highlighted).
2) Add a comment for your opponent to identify it in the multiplayer accept challenges lobby.
3) Add a password that you PM on Slitherine private messages to your opponent so only they can open the challenge.

When you then click the "Create" button on this screen and the game goes to the Multiplayer Lobby. The PM to your opponent tells them it is there.
