Hi Gavin, I will go with the Akai of the same period.

But, breaking news is that Brian was overly pessimistic in his assessment of our game. It is now 55-55. I have two fragged units and just one intact cavalry man left. He has hordes of monks dashing around and they are not engaged in meditation or discussion of koans.

It's perhaps difficult to rewind things but I leave it to you to decide how best to manage this. Having said that, I'll be very pleased to play you.

I'll await the result Alan...I will rewind if things change to be fair to Brian, though I'll also look forward to our game if it eventuates...dashing monks (now there's a bonus for love island!)

And it's all over...
Hojo 63% losses
Ikko-Ikki 60% losses

Brian and his acolytes are deserved winners.

Well, that's unexpected. Well done Brian! Looks like we have a battle on our hands I'll take Opponent - Toyotomi 1604 onwards. And for you Brian?

Ah, I'm afraid you are too late Mark.
We now have a New Shogun... Brian (aka KiwiWarlord) with a timely roll of five he claims the Shogunate. Unfortunately, those who are yet to roll must bow before the Seii Taishōgun
And-herein lies the end of the experiment. Thoughts are welcome.
My two cents -
  • Plus - It has a nice relaxed feel and novelty to it without having to be tied down with multiple games and deadlines
  • Minus - I think this would work better with more players.

I'm now toying with the idea of integrating the old choose your own adventure books, or interactive fiction, where the player makes choices that determine their path to glory.

Congratulations to Brian! All hail our new Shogun!

Pro's, nice and casual, relaxed. Easy to understand.

Cons : was a tad quick due to the dice. (I am new to online campaigns so not sure if thats a good thing or not)

Ideas : I wonder how it would work if say you had a d3 and victories on the battlefield added modifiers to your dice? Like A +1 per win with a -1 per loss down to d3? And rather than fighting when we land on a space together, every second dice roll has a battle?

Thanks, Gavin, for coming up with this idea and for running the event. It was an interesting format and I got a couple of games so I was happy. Well done to Brian and his fearsome Monks!
