Div A
Poles (Nijis) defeat (barely) Dailamites (ChrisTownsend), 62-52.
An extremely close battle, as the score shows. The hillmen of Gilan descended from their lush mountain fastnesses to meet the Polish Crusade in the sweltering heat of the Syrian desert. Both sides faced off in defensive positions, until a Polish charge on the right drew the highlanders into the fray. The Polish cavalry eventually prevailed over the Iranian horse, but the Dailamites swept away Polish pavisiers and wagons better suited to resist European cavalry than impact foot. Then the battle swung back and forth, as the Polish knights (or at least those who hadn't gone tearing off to loot the Dailamite baggage train) tried to overwhelm Dailamite foot in defensive positions in the rough, and the Dailamites in turn tried to isolate knights and bring their numerical superiority to prevail. A handful of last stands by surrounded knights allowed the Poles to eek out a very narrow victory.

rpadilla1988 Byzantine 988-1041 defeats SimonLancaster Turkish 600-1036 AD + Arab (Umayyad) 51-53
The numbers tell it all.. the Byzantine army was able to control the Turkish to an extent at the first half of the battle; gaining here and there but all it took was one over extension, and the fluid mobility of horse archers for some flanks to be found which led to chain routes leaving both armies battered. The Byzantine then took the time to attempt consolidating their lines and isolating enemy units; the Turks circles Byzantine stragglers like sharks. The battle oscillated between dead even and the Turks winning by a point; until quite literally the cav saved the day (one single fragmented Byzantine/nomad horse archer entering the map from the south, where they evaded off screen a couple turns back.)

Division C
While, based on recent experience, Chris Townsend's Spanish 900 and their Andalusian allies now have very mixed views about meeting more Vikings, they are looking forward to completing their tour of Europe by going for a ride with wulf85's Rus 960, and hopefully minimizing contact with the Viking allies.
Challenge is set up and password sent by PM.

Division C
Pergamene [Chris Townsend] successfully asserted its independence and the Antigonid (and allies) [IMC] are returning to Greece, having been defeated 46 to 19.
Pergamene was gifted with substantial woods/rough on each flank, with three of the 9 squares in the gap being rough or a built up area, and deployed warbands and thureophoroi in the gap and lots of low point irregulars, militia thureophoroi and massed peltasts in the woods, with a strong skirmisher line and a small cavalry force on a road through the left flank woods. The Antigonid force was mostly heavy troops and cavalry, though there was a decent skirmisher force and a few medium infantry.
The battle opened with a clash of skirmishers, and when the Pergamene numbers began to tell, the Antigonid line moved forward in support. On the Pergamene right, the battle was essentially a draw, with irregulars on rough terrain preventing progress by the Antigonid heavies, but not having the strength to counterattack into open terrain. On the Pergamene left, their medium infantry emerged from the woods and achieved local infantry superiority in numbers, offset by Antigonid quality, and troops, including the Pergamene cavalry, were added piece meal by each side.
Correctly sensing that he was slowly losing the battle on his right, the Antigonid general courageously decided to march the phalanx forward and assault the Pergamene centre. Unfortunately luck was against him. Two of the three initial charges against warbands resulted in the phalanx being pushed back and disrupted. And, although the phalanx successfully pushed back the thureophoroi, it exposed their flank to a deadly and well co-ordinated counterattack. It was all over except the fighting
A good game against a courageous Antigonid commander!

caroenkm (Roman) beat Morat (Galatian) 40 -8
A tough battle up hill for the Galatians and the warbands really didnt want to play. Unluck with the disruptions ended and promising battle. well played.
