I recently just finished up a run on Youtube/Twitch as Rome in Field of Glory: Empires. The series was recorded live to twitch, although the live viewership was low. The last video with gameplay was released today on YT and an after action report style video reviewing the run is set to release tomorrow. The run took 206 turns to get to the victory screen and 47 videos excluding the AAR.
A playlist to the run can be found here:

For the next run I was thinking of playing in the DLC scenario as either Persia, Macedonia, or Sparta. Though I could be convinced to run a different nation if people would be interested in seeing a specific nation. Please feel free to give me any feedback on what you would like to see or things I can improve to improve the watch-ability of the videos. I am going to spend a couple of weeks ingesting any feedback or suggestions before starting up the next run. (I'll try to bump the post with the expected night when I start the next run for those that are interested.)

Play Sparta in DLC. It will be way harder, altho not so much if you are expert player.Willcol100 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 03, 2025 11:49 pm For the next run I was thinking of playing in the DLC scenario as either Persia, Macedonia, or Sparta.

Re: Just Finished up a run on YT as Rome
I've started Sparta a couple of times before, the run isn't that bad after taking over the nation between your two starting territories. I find that step can be a bit of RNG to do. Any suggestions on how to make the first couple of turns more reliable?

Playing as Persia is easy, playing as Sparta ... try 3-4 test games first to turn 30-40 to find out how to survive, then when you actually play you need to stop Persia in Asia minor so they don't win early, and the game in itself is shorter where you need to outdo Persia in points.

I've played it just as it came out so don't remember much.
Iirc marching up and take some independent region past the first one was the best strategy.
Also leaving 2(4?) cavalry at home to strengthen the garrison is good if you fear invasion as Sparta's garrison is very strong by itself can be outflanked.

Re: Just Finished up a run on YT as Rome
Right now my loose plan is to run a stream night trying to get a Sparta run going. If I get a run going during that stream I'll play it out. Most of the struggle I have had with a Sparta run is getting that first expand without losing the army. So the run tends to be made or broken in the first 10 turns. As the Spartan army is to expensive early game to replace if RNG turns against you. I'll probably run a Persia run after it if I can't get a Spartan run going.Surt wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 5:12 am Playing as Persia is easy, playing as Sparta ... try 3-4 test games first to turn 30-40 to find out how to survive, then when you actually play you need to stop Persia in Asia minor so they don't win early, and the game in itself is shorter where you need to outdo Persia in points.

Either Steam or AGEOD forums has a Sparta detailed guide that I approve as far as general strategy goes.Willcol100 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 09, 2025 8:09 pm Right now my loose plan is to run a stream night trying to get a Sparta run going.
