The “Bloody Sky” mission is probably the most difficult and unpleasant task in this campaign, I admit.
The next mission is probably the last one and it turns out to be a pile of mala ! As it seems to me it is necessary to give the player either airfields or exit points ) Or again to reduce the number of tasks to destroy strategic factories and factories to win as Toby on anti-aircraft guns did not stingy around important points to win ))))) It is now nonsense and paradox even the last mission is easier than this one )

I also had to come up with a specific strategy first. It was also important to get as many bombers with experience as possible.
Since this was the last mission, I didn't think it was necessary to set up EXIT hexes. Also, there was no way to land the bombers in the middle of Germany and ask the Germans if they could refuel or repair them.

I watched your replay and you are just a natural born sky general ))))) Tomorrow I will try to replay with different style and tactics ) Your flight programme is interesting and unusual of course ) ) I wish more such simulators ))))
For example, hunting German submariners all the way to the Pacific Ocean and terrifying the Allied convoys German wolf packs of submarines )))))Of course spend your submarine from Tokyo to Berlin and back but already with a secret scheme of new tanks Tiger and Panther will be a boring company through hordes of enemies but some moments of heroic battles there were )))))

Iwo Jima (February–March 1945)
Iwo Jima. Bonin Islands. Enemy: US Marine Corps.

26th Tank Regiment (Lieutenant Colonel Nishi) — 11 Type 97 tanks*, 12 Type 95 tanks
Note: *some of them were improved Type 97s

The 26th Tank Regiment was formed from the reconnaissance unit of the 1st Tank Division. Regiment commander Nishi came to the tank forces from the cavalry. He was a renowned horseman and won the equestrian competition at the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles. After surveying the island, Nishi concluded that there was no room for tanks to manoeuvre on Iwo Jima, so he ordered the existing tanks to be dug in and used as pillboxes.

The regiment's units took up three defensive positions. The 2nd Company, with its attached artillery platoon, dug in on the western side of the island, the 1st Company, with its attached artillery platoon, dug in on the southern side, and the 3rd Company and the regiment headquarters took up defensive positions on the eastern side of the island and behind the main position.

On 20 February, the day after the landing, the 1st Company engaged in combat with the marines and the Sherman Company supporting them. The company fought until 1 March, when it was completely destroyed. On 25 February, the 3rd Company was sent to the second airfield with orders to defend it from the Americans. Despite fierce resistance, the airfield was captured by the Americans on 27 February.

On the morning of 28 February, the 2nd Company, which had been hiding in caves, suddenly attacked the 21st Marine Regiment. Despite the surprise attack, the Americans repelled it with grenade launchers.

The remnants of the tank regiment were gathered near the village of Maruman in the east of the island and continued fighting as infantry, since all of the regiment's tanks had been lost.

Japanese mountain artillery units, for which, for example, the 75 mm Type 94 mountain gun was developed.
http://www.la-star.ru/ml/t178.html

I also have a question: which Japanese troops were analogous to mountain troops? I have seen photos of Japanese soldiers on skis, but I have not come across any mountain units.

Toby, my friend, what about tank trailers? The tank itself can move 4 or 5 hexes, but with a trailer it should become a little faster and move further. I saw such trailers in some mod, but I forgot its name. That's what happens when you play a lot of different mod

There were no specialised ‘mountain troops’ in the Japanese army in the Western sense, such as the German Gebirgsjäger or Italian Alpini, but there were units that performed similar tasks and operated in mountainous or inaccessible terrain. Japan developed so-called light divisions with reduced equipment and artillery, which were better suited to mobile warfare in mountainous and jungle-like terrain. These were used, for example, in the Burma campaign or on New Guinea.

There were also some special units of the Japanese army:
Teishin Shudan: commando operations, raids on airfields, ambushes deep in enemy territory
Fukuryu: diving specialists, a kind of commando unit on water
Kempeitai: military secret police

Specialised jungle and guerrilla units: Ambushes, cutting off supplies, attrition - similar to later Vietcong strategies

I once read in an article that for a special mission, for example for a house-to-house battle, some excellent or best soldiers were selected from the participating army units, combined into a new unit and this new unit was given a name and suddenly became a special unit for special tasks, e.g. fighting Chinese resistance nests in a city or similar.

Yes, the East is a delicate matter ))) Their flamethrower operators were also engineers, although in the USSR and Germany there were separate flamethrower units...
