There should be a sticky of how to install it

Post by timberwolf15 »

I have not played in a few years have a new pc want to install it on this pc ... wheee

But how to do it without wasting time and doing trial and error.. A sticky that is UPDATED as needed should be easily available on the forums so ANY moron like myself can come back to the game and install it without any hassles...

I guess I will go to My Page and go to Order of Battle WW2 and click on File Downloads and do WHAT ???

The internet states version 10 is the latest version so I will I guess download the PC installer version 10 July 26th .. and then what ... the pc update 10.0.6 . gee wally there is also and updater call pc updater at the TOP of the list but its date associated with it is not as recent ..

Ok so assuming I stumble myself into installing ONLY the correct files then how do I install the DLC stuff . Hello !!!

I got some doc. files I typed up some stuff over the years its on a backup drive somewhere do not want to SEARCH for these instructions even though I take meticulous notes of how to reinstall stuff I would RATHER just have a STICKY since Slitherine is still in business of how to do a fresh install on a fresh computer ... Having played and installed about 3285 different pc games over the years I really don't want to rely on my MEMORY but would rather have a STICKY I can easily refer to ... The British are usually exceptional about information flow - (its only because of the Brits we have a CIA etc they taught us how to do things during WW2 ) so I'm shocked there is no STICKY

I downloaded this stuff but then went to download Marines since I own it but wait it shows DLC installer 10 so maybe I don't even have needed to download the pc installer version 10 maybe just the marines and then I can play it but wait what about the patch maybe I need to patch it AFTER I download the Marines rather than patching it before .. who knows

Oh Great I installed it .. it shows version 10 and then you can click on at the main screen the "Check for Updates" link clicking on this does nothing except finally bring up a message that this does not work and to contact slitherine...

Try what I said in this thread:

https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=117546

But first, uninstall everything and start fresh. I would even get rid of what's in My Documents and in this folder:

C:\Users\bruce\AppData\LocalLow\The Artistocrats

Regarding "sticky" status, you are right on. I wish that, when the Powers That Be made me a moderator all those years ago, they had given me that capability but alas, they did not. They clipped my wings in several ways. Something about a rogue former moderator having run rampant through the forums.

But searching may result in useful links for desired information. For example, the thread to which I linked above is currently only four positions on the board beneath this one.

The full installation of the game also always downloads the full game with all assets and campaigns. I guess the "Slitherine" DLC activations just "unlocks" the respective campaign(s).

But seriously, if you really want "convenient", download the game on Steam. You'll never have to worry about this kind of stuff anymore.

Yes I should perhaps do that - but being so old school that I am and because I grew up playing Dos 6.22 games .... I hate steam .. because ya gotta have an internet connection to fully enjoy it, if steam goes away what happens to your game if Slitherine goes away I still have the files I downloaded ... Steam seems to run in background heavy and is hard on the eyes compared to a non steam game but maybe I'm imagining things ... and many other things Im to lazy to mention but I do own about 30 plus steam games .. wheee but it I don't have to play a game through steam I don't
