Quick question: Can you bring the heroes and troops from this campaign to other campaigns that are not in this mod? E.g. 1946?
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
Great, thanks. I’ll try it. People said the inherited cores can be only used within the same mod, which I doubted

Because a campaign reads the exact name of a dedicated core file, so without modifying things (i.e. renaming the file or removing mod-exclusive units) you can't use it elsewhere.
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
U only need to keep the mod active and rename the core file to fit. there is no need to remove mod specific units, as long as the mod stays active.VirgilInTheSKY wrote: ↑Wed Apr 02, 2025 9:02 amBecause a campaign reads the exact name of a dedicated core file, so without modifying things (i.e. renaming the file or removing mod-exclusive units) you can't use it elsewhere.

The 88 sfl AT does not switch to AA. I assume this is not wanted?

I see. Thanks for clarification
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
So, I am in '41 now and two things I would like to give feedback so far:
1. I really like the new Hero buying choice at the beginning of most scenarios. I think it adds a meaningful choice and at the same time limits the impact of the "luck of the draw". Also, I got the feeling that you actually balanced the prestige income against the new expenditures, but I am not sure if this is actually true.
2. Most of the '39 maps are too large imho. Driving through the vast Russian steppe in '41 feels faster then sloughing through the polish hinterlands, while it should be vice versa.
Generally, I think the size of most '39 maps is detrimental to the games pacing. You will spend multiple turns with just moving your guys around without anything happening really. Additionally, in case you miss-estimated the needed army elements on different edges of the map, you have close to no ability to course-correct because they are just so far away that you cannot adapt on the fly a lot of times.
As always thanks for the great effort on this mod.

1. i hate the clustering of the random system that comes with the game. in each and evry run i made i had a claster of a certain hero, this could be gamebreaking when it was something like zero slots or extremly boring when it something like first aid.
In the new system the number of specific heroes is limited. in general u can get only 1 of each hero per year. since u are in 1941 u can have 3 of each type max (killer team general trait can exceed that limit, but u will no longer get that hero)
In addition i used the new system to bring a heavily needed prestige sink into the game.
I balanced it around me playing on highest difficulty using clepto-krieg and barely be able to get a 5k hero each time.
I prefer the bigger maps where movement and planning has an effect and can´t be easily redone in a turn when u fuck up.Nexus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 16, 2025 9:41 am 2. on most maps u have trains to transport damaged units back to reserve and replace them with fresh units.
I agree that the maps in 40/41 should be adjusted to better fit, but my time is sadly limited.
thx for the feedback.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
I'd like to play this but where do I put the Folder "PanzerCorps1" so Panzer Corps 2 can use it?
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
if u have the opportunity to use steam do so. makes ur life a lot easier.
if u can`t:
Find ur documents folder and foolow this path.
...\Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2\Mods\PanzerCorps1
if u have one drive or other cloud services the folder might be in unsuspected places.

Hope you find the time to start 44/45 historical earlier. No time table set due to RL, but i would guess beginning of next year.

There is not a mod folder under Panzer Corps 2. I created one and put the files there, but it doesn't show up in the mod manager. Any other suggestions?
Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
There are two locations for the game. The one is where you have it installed ( D: \Program Files (x86)\Slitherine\Panzer Corp 2, for you).
The other is automatically created (User\Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2).
The mod folder needs to be in the second location (User\Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2\Mods\PanzerCorps1)

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. As before there are no folders created labeled as MOD.
I have the game loaded on the D drive and there is no "User\Documents\My Games\Panzer Corps 2" on the D drive. Not on C drive either.
So do I need to create these folders and put PC1 in them?
Which drive C or D?
The game runs fine other than not showing any Mods listed under the Mod option.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
This is the games path. u don´t need that. u want to look for ur documents folder where the save files and ur cores are saved. if the mods folder doesn´t exist there create one.
It looks like this:

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
Grondel,
After installing PC2 my path looks nothing like you show. As you can see nothing goes to any "documents" folder. Also, there is a subfolder "PanzerCorps2" with a bunch of other needed files.
Why does my install look so much different than others?
Edit: my saves do go to a document folder on the C drive but that's all.

Re: Grand Campaign 1939-1945 (Custom Campaign)
The 'Mods' folder is adjacent to your 'Saves' folder.
You must create the folder, before you use it. The game does not automatically create the Mods directory.
Note: Both Steam and Slitherline installs can use the same Mods directory, but
Steam has a workshop option that allows Steam to use it's own 'Mods' directory without user needing to know where things go.
