Smaller Scale Games

Post by kabrank »

Hi All

Will the rule set include the capability to play small "fast" games with numbers similar to DBA?

This size of game is also useful for playing when short of time or simply trying out a new army with a small number of bases. It is also useful for using as an introduction for new players.

We also have great interest in DBA style competitions at Club when we run then.

It's not something we'd initially considered but it is something we should think about.

This is something I was going to suggest too.

DBA is a good entry to DBM and Armati has a smaller version.

Perhaps you could do something with single elements for units and markers to indicate cohesion or just less elements in a unit?

Worth considering as it makes it much easier for new players to get involved.

I agree- smaller games get played more often hence around here I tend to get many more games of DBA in than its b**tard bloated son DBM.

Perhaps by smaller we could say simpler or scaled down in other espects as well as number of figures though?

I think Armati was partly along the right track with it's three army sizes although the game was essentially the same for all three. Something between DBA's too small and DBMs size would do nicely.

It's not only for purposes of introductionary games though,
time available, apace to play and number of figures avaialable are all importatnt issues for many.

Graham

Its an interesting suggestion which we will have a look at after we get the initial beta testing out of the way

I just want to put my plug in for a fast play version too. Even 2 hours would be great.

Certainly a short game or fast play concept is something we will put our minds to now we are getting the main set pretty well sorted.

Consider me another vote for a small scale game. I played DBA gleefully for many a year, until turned off by constant tweaking (needing printed downloads to play) but never got a taste for DBM. (it's the flanks, stupid)

I still like the simple campaign system in DBA and could see using it with this.

I would prefer a smaler scale in addition too.

I recently tried out Basic Impetuus

It is played on a table double size than DBA. (120 cm X 60 cm)
