Today I bring a new US army prototype, T55E1 GMC. It's a wheeled tank destroyer with a 3 inch M6 gun (same gun in M10 and M18). It has a low profile and very mobile. However, due to the extremely lacking of armor, this vehicle never went into production and the US army chose the M10 GMC.

Thanks for modeling and sharing.
What a monster.

Today is a Soviet tank destroyer, Su-85M. Due to the shortage of the new 100mm gun, the first 315 Su-100 hulls were equipped with 85mm guns to become Su-85M. They have better armor protection than the regular Su-85. The production time were between September to November, 1944.

US army T64 Howitzer Motor Carriage. This prototype combined the M5 light tank chassis and a 4.5 inch M1 gun. The later development finally ended up with the 155mm M41 HMC.

British army Churchill NA75 tank. After the North African campaign, the British headquarters realized that the 6 pounder gun in Churchill III tanks were useless to deal with soft target, because this gun lacks a HE shell. The solution was to mount the Sherman tank 75mm guns with mantlets to the Churchill tanks from the scrapped Sherman tanks. About 210 Churchill III tanks made through this conversion and all were sent to Italian front in early 1944.

Lend Lease Matilda III tank with a 76.2mm F96 gun and mantlet from KV tank. This is a field modification trying to improve the fire power of the Matilda tank. The result was unsuccessful and the plan was discarded.

A new Soviet SPAA prototype, called ZUT-37, based on T-70 light tank. The open turret has a 37mm autocannon. However, the magazine has only five round, which really hampered its anti air ability. So this type never went into production.

British army Harry-Hopkins light tank. This small tank was developed as the predecessor of the Tetrach tank, with the same 2 Pdr gun but slightly better protection. Only 100 Harry-Hopkins were built and all were used to protect the airfields in UK.

T-34/100 is the variant of the T-34 family but never went into production. It has a powerful 100mm gun, same as the gun in Su-100 and T-54. To fit the long breech and ammo of the 100mm, the turret of the T-34/100 is slightly modified from T-34/85. The prototype went to trial in April 1945 and showed satisfied performance. The production was cancelled because the Red Army prefer more modern designs such as T-44 and T-54.

Normal, the Panther was the best medium tank of the second world war.
