Looking for a list to use with Wargames factory romans
Long story short, a couple of use bought a bunch of Ceasars legion boxes during the one day sale.
Ive never done or seen FOG played at this scale so I was wondering a few things:
what size army should we shoot for?
is there a sample list we could go by?
how big are the BGs supposed to be?

eheh, just did the same but only bought 2 set of 48 legionnaires!
If you play in 28mm scale, then let say in 650 pt 8BG of 4 arm sup legionnaires might be enough as a core troop (8bg of 4 with 4 guy on each, that is to say a good 128 guys). The starter army only got 7bg if i remember right!
On their website some guys claimed that they bought over 10 boxes, how many did you ordered?

He's referring to the bases that troops are on for playing the game. Late republican roman (ie those in the WF boxes) should be 4 figures on a 60mm x 20mm base - although thats a bit cramped, and some people use 3 per base because of this. Each battlegroup of legionnaries comprises 4 or 6 of these bases.shakespear wrote:What do you mean "stands?"pcelella wrote:My 'standard' Late Republican Roman list has 7 units of legionaries, 4 stands per unit. So that would be 4x7x4=112 figures.
Of course, you would still need the supporting troops and generals to add to this.

650 points gives a good game in 28mm on a 4x6 table. Higher points on that size table tends to favour infantry armies too much - not that that is a bad thing for your Romans, but it might deter some potential opponents.shakespear wrote:Also is 650 the army size I should aim for? Well, my group typically does 800 point games, using 1 MU = 40mm, on tables that are 5'x8' for 25-28mm scale armies. When we do 650 point games, we still use that same MU measurement and table size. I guess that using 1 MU = 1 inch (or 25mm) for a 650 point game on a 6'x4' table would work fine though. We find that movement and shooting distances look out of whack for 25mm figures though using those dimensions, so we prefer the larger table size and MU's.shakespear wrote:thanks guys
I also have some Foundry vets I can use too
Is the sample list worth anything?
Also is 650 the army size I should aim for? I'm wnating to play on a 4X6 table
