Congratulations to Zhu Que and China where, after a setback in the initial game of their match, they overcame France’s Furor Gallico and maintain first place. They will now be challenged by Montjoie after the second French team’s very strong showing against the American Third Army sending the Americans tumbling. Zhu Que’s lead is a strong 130 points, so Montjoie will have a tough job to overhaul them.
Furor Gallico, pushed back into third, take on the Herd of Kiwis. The New Zealanders also having had a good round 3 at the expense of Italia’s Condottieri.
UK’s Armchair Heroes finish just one point ahead of Spain’s Desperta Fero. The Armchair’s previously, already, narrow lead whittled to that odd point after a desperately close match. Teams cannot play each other again so having failed to separate from Desperta in round 3 the Armchairs will meet USA’s Hell on Wheels in round 4 while Desperta meet UK’s Boudica’s Bastards; both opponents having moved up the ranking in round 3. As the margin between these four teams is just 134 points all will be hoping to avoid close matches and climb out of the ruck.
Match 5 will be the rising Charming Champians vs the sinking Third Army. One looking to continue round 3 results the other reverse them.
An Italian civil war in round 4’s match 6 after the results for Italia’s Condottieri send them to meet Italia’s rising Comites. The final match being the Northern Guardians vs Lupi Belli. As a mere 98 points – or one good victory separate places 7 and 13! There is plenty of room for change in the bottom half of this table.

After a second stunning four victories in their match China's Zhu Que have a virtually unassailable lead in the tournament. It would probably require a four game reversal in their last match to topple them.
The likely challengers at the moment will be the Spanish Desperta Fero but with 3 games still to declare Armchair Heroes or Herd of Kiwis could change this. As Furor Gallico have already played Zhu Que if they have success in their remaining games they will not be the team to challenge Zhu Que.
Hell on Wheels are too far away to challenge for second spot in round 4 but remaining wins would put them in position to do so in round 5.
The remaining game for each of The Northern Guardians, Lupi Belli and the Comites and Condottieri of Italy will establish who might still reach third spot in round 5.
Nearly all teams should have a chance of second or third place in round 5.

Avoiding Rematches - Explanation

The system used since the outset is

Where teams 1 and 2 have played before we go
1 vs 3 and 2 vs 4.
If either of those matches are replays
we then go
1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3
If either of those were rematches we then lift a team from below - team 5
and then team 6 and so on.
For Match 7
The lift from below is reversed and the team above comes into play.

For example here we had
Zhu Que vs Furor as a rematch
So took first
Zhu Que vs Desperta
and
Furor vs Kiwis - unfortunately that is also a rematch.
So next we go
Zhu Que vs Kiwis
and
Furor vs Desperta
Those are both valid matches so we stop there.

With 9 games complete in the final round two of which are victories for Zhu Que the Chinese team have an unassailable position at the top of the table. However the silver and bronze positions are very much all to play for. Currently Furor Gallico and The Charming Champians hold these positions.

Many congratulations to the members of Zhu Que! Now WTC Champions for a second, consecutive, championship.
Zhu Que's incredibly strong performance included the two best individual player performances with three players in the top ten.
A very special mention and congratulations to Zhu Que's layer TaBai who recorded the best individual performance and was the only player to manage a perfect played five won five.

Congratulations too to original WTC champions Furor Gallico on another strong performance and their second place.
