i understand unit movement but
what is speed? example an Infantry Hero with +1 Speed. what advantage is speed on an Infantry Hero/unit? understand movement advantage but not speed? thanks
Re: i understand unit movement but
Speed is movement points in normal terrain. So a Wehr Infantry unit with +1 Speed, for instance, means his movement is now 4 instead of the normal 3.scorehouse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 9:58 pm what is speed? example an Infantry Hero with +1 Speed. what advantage is speed on an Infantry Hero/unit? understand movement advantage but not speed? thanks
The advantage? I'd think that would be obvious, but since you're asking I'll give a couple of examples.
Heavy Infantry can now match "regular" infantry in movement while still having their various combat advantages.
Moreover, the "+" traits are stackable. So if you combine a +2 Speed Hero with say, Oleh Dir's +3, you get an infantry unit who can move a total of 5 hexes farther than one without heroes. Now you potentially have a unit who can move, without any organic transport, as far as another unit can with a truck - and be ready to fight/attack immediately!
Hope this helps.

Re: i understand unit movement but
so its basically additional movement. I questioned because Wernsberger has +1 speed and low profile but that seems like little for 9 commendations points. I find myself using the Grenadier Infantry the most. it comes with 1.5 so with Ignores Entrenchment and precision weapon with the other couple of traits it has it seems to be an overall effective unit for the cost and slots? what's your infantry unit preference. excluding the Kommando Mod

That's a mod thing, vanilla HW infantry does not have such traits.scorehouse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 11:39 pm so its basically additional movement. You should always have enough commendations points, so you basically take everything thats for freescorehouse wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2024 11:39 pm so its basically additional movement. I questioned because Wernsberger has +1 speed and low profile but that seems like little for 9 commendations points.
There are only a few events when you have to decide if its worse or not.
Infantry is the only category where I mix things up, even if it might not be the best way to go.
I like to have 1x paratroopers for example, although I use them as normal infantry. Flying them behind the enemy lines always end in desaster.

I like to use Paratroopers to try to grab an airfield especially when I can immediately rebase an aircraft or 2 on it,
