act 2, tartarus hive crash. "Access violation reading location"

Post by Aranwen1 »

After the mission to rescue Yarrick, the game crashes attempting to load the next mission after completing its cutscene. Crash happens if I let the cutscene play out or click through it.

I own the game through Steam, tried validating it, reinstalling it, and removing untold stories which I didn't have the last time I played it, but it still crashes attempting to load the mission.

I'm not using any mods and playing with all DLC.
Steam Family is active but both accounts own the game, only one has all the DLC.

Great news, after not getting a reply I decided 'f it, since so long has passed maybe it will work now like what happens to some other old games after a Windows update randomly breaks/fixes them." Started a new run from Act 2, made it to tartarus, and it did work, tried adding the DLC 1 by 1 to see if it would break and everything was working fine..... until I beat the mission and got the access violation error again.

once again removed the DLC, even uninstalling Da Orks and reinstalling the game, completely broken. Looks like I can't do the vanilla campaign with DLC installed and to fix it I need to start another campaign.

Well, at least I figured out a workaround so I can actually play the game I paid for. Too bad I'm missing out on the DLC content. Can't be bothered to figure out specifically which one(s) are breaking it.
